The challenge of how best to report on a "demagogue"?

A dictionary definition from Google:

"dem·a·gogue
/ˈdeməˌɡäɡ/
noun
noun: demagogue; plural noun: demagogues

a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.
synonyms: rabble-rouser, agitator, political agitator, soapbox orator, firebrand, fomenter, provocateur
"he was drawn into a circle of campus demagogues"
(in ancient Greece and Rome) a leader or orator who espoused the cause of the common people."

===============

The media, including newspapers, have a difficult time - just like most citizens - in trying not to react to everything the demagogue is capable of doing. It is a challenge.

Someone has to be the arbiter of truth. Would you prefer the demagogue or would you prefer the newspapers? That is a simple question.

In psychology, there is a graph that shows an arc on a chart, and behavior that is within the arc is considered "normal". Behavior outside the arc is considered "not normal". The media, and most of America, are accustomed to a "reality" within the "normal" arc. A demagogue is not within the "normal" arc.

That is the first lesson a reporter should understand. This is not "normal" behavior coming from our leaders. That is the premise to begin with.

Does Donald Trump have a criminal mind??

Was it his environment or his heredity? Was it "like father, like son" or was it the people that he associated with? Or was it both?

He seems to have an innate obsession with making money and being wealthy. It makes him feel superior.

In his obsession with ego and wealth, it appears he may have wandered into activities that were not legal? He may have made connections to Russian oligarchs, out of necessity, once he had worn out his credit in this country? Thru those oligarchs, he would have met Vladimir Putin. Because all of the oligarchs work with Vladimir Putin if they want to work at all.

He likely met Paul Manafort thru the same connections? He learned that there were millions and millions to be made by laundering Russian money thru real estate transactions. He knew just the person to handle those "deals". Himself.

Deeper and deeper he got into the oligarch business. They expanded their businesses to golf courses and expensive apartment complexes. It is a thriving business and America is fertile ground.

But all the money, from all the oligarchs, could be shut off with the snap of a finger. By Vladimir Putin. Nobody does business in or out of Russia without his approval.

However, Donald Trump was rumored to be associated with the NY mafia figures even before he joined hands with the Russians and Putin. He may have been involved with some Russians when his casino went under? People wondered how he could lose so much money in a casino??

So, is Donald Trump a criminal? Or is he the second coming of Christ, as many of his followers seem to think? Who knew that Jesus would return with the characteristics of a criminal mind?

The question we are left with: Was the FBI investigating Donald Trump before he decided to run for the Presidency??

We have a moral obligation to speak out against racism, hatred, and cruelty.

We see all of these with Donald Trump and his supporters.

We cannot silently accept the cruelty of unnecessarily separating children from their parents. We cannot accept the racism exposed in their immigration policies.

We cannot accept the hatred in their words. We cannot accept the divisiveness in their politics. We cannot accept the incivility of their actions.

We cannot accept the name-calling and threats they express toward others that might disagree with them.

Whether or not we win the next election, we have a moral obligation to fight back against such negative and destructive politics. We must keep fighting. We have no choice.
