What are the reasons (excuses) for not prosecuting Trump?

Some say it will only divide the nation even more. That sounds like some sort of partisan extortion? If you don't protect the criminal, then you are responsible for whatever bad might happen?

Some believe it would start a civil war. If there is one thing our nation has learned during its existence, it is that if your cause is not righteous, you will lose the battle and suffer the consequences, sometimes as an entire nation.

Some believe we should put it all behind us and move forward. We should forget the damage done and the crimes that were committed, in the name of uniting our country. Why can we not hold the guilty parties accountable and still move forward?

Some believe it is a partisan witch hunt because no harm was done. But, if there are criminal charges made by either party, then they should be resolved by the courts.

Only the Courts can decide if there were crimes committed. We cannot move forward until there are answers for the crimes committed against the American people and our system of government.

If that does not happen, then we will see true division.

Have you noticed?

Trump has never given an explanation of what he was doing for 187 minutes as our Capitol was being attacked by his followers?

And he has never said why he took hundreds of classified documents to his mansion in Florida and then lied about it?

Instead, he distracts and attacks his political enemies.

So far, it has worked for him. He has not answered the questions that every American deserves to know.

(I heard these questions asked on MSNBC last night and seemed timely)

FOX News asks, "Remember when Trump said his taxes were under audit?"

No?

Don't expect them to ever inform their viewers, even when they know the truth.

And don't expect their viewers to ever change the channel.

They live the "Big Lie".

What the Bible says about lying?

Proverbs 19:5

“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.”

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

There is no shame.

Donald Trump is a criminal. He is a liar. There is no line he will not cross.

The Republican Party has become a replicating image of Donald Trump. Lying has become the norm for Republican politicians. It is so much easier than telling the truth.

They lie about everything.

A newly-elected Congressman from NY created an entirely new image for himself and was elected from his District.

Trump said he had no problem showing his tax forms as soon as they were not under audit. They were never under audit. He lied.

Republicans tried to over-throw an election and mounted a violent coup against our country. They attacked our Capitol and said it was like a normal "tourist" day.

They lie about everything. They cannot be trusted.

It is sickening and sad.

Which is worse? MSNBC with over-coverage or FOX with no coverage?

I monitored FOX News this morning for about an hour and there was not one mention of the "criminal referrals" for Donald Trump by the January 6th Committee. There was a lot of border news about illegal immigration and John Roberts' hold on Title 42. There was a story about air traffic during this holiday season. There was a story about "Kidults" who were buying toys as if they were children. There were stories about Jon Benet Ramsey and the unsolved murders in Idaho. And a story about someone who wrote a country song about Santa Claus and an Uber driver. Also, there were commercials of Donald Trump selling his "coffee table book" and the Pillow guy (several commercials) selling his new bed linens and a commercial by Rush Limbaugh's brother, David, selling a book about the late radio host.

But never a mention of the "criminal referrals" for Donald J Trump?

In contrast, MSNBC reported extensively, from several different angles, on the Committee's referrals. They went into depth and reported editorially about what it meant, and so forth?

Did MSNBC report too much on the "criminal referrals"? That is a legitimate question, in my opinion.

Did FOX do the right thing by not reporting on it at all? No, not in my opinion. They were derelict in their duty as a so-called "news" operation.

Because justice is important to our country and our people. It does not serve the common good by ignoring it or pretending it didn't happen.

If a former President committed murder, would he be arrested?

How about armed robbery?

How about insurrection to overthrow our government?

Why would one crime be any different from the others?

Would he try to say that the person he murdered was a Democrat and that he deserved it?

The World Is Watching.

Which will win?

American democracy or the forces of autocracy and dictatorships?

Is justice just a facade of democracy or is it an integral part of its survival?

If American democracy fails, no democracy in the world is safe from the attacks of the fascists and the autocrats.

The world is watching what America does.

The Last Thing On My Mind

December 19, 2022

Neal Katyal makes an interesting point about Republicans derailing the DOJ investigation.

They know that the January 6th Committee will be disbanded but Katyal said that the Republicans would also attempt to derail the DOJ by not funding them, etc.

He was on one of the talk shows last night and he thought the DOJ might charge Trump with the theft of the documents before the Republicans take over the House. Otherwise, they might attempt to dismantle the entire investigation.

It was an interesting comment coming from a very bright lawyer.
