This should be the nail in Trump's "Open the schools" coffin...

The NYT reported yesterday the Barron's school is considering on line learning.

Question for the psych experts here: Given all the terrible things that Mary Trump

says about Donald Trump's early life, mainly a complete lack of parental love and nurturing, could he have become a different (better) person with counseling or was he a lost cause from the get-go?

So here's the basic problem with opening schools:

we fund our local schools through property taxes. The tax levy, which would reflect pre-Covid 19 conditions, has already been made. States and local governments cannot spend money they do not have...unlike the federal government. So we simply do not have the money to make the accommodations we need to make in time for the schools to open in the fall. All the bullying in the world is not going to change that.

Little bugs become big bugs when the kids come home from school.

Anyone who has had the slightest contact with children knows this. The kid gets a sniffle and Mom and Dad or Grandma and Grandpa get nailed. No so bad when it is a cold or a stomach bug or even the flu for which there is a vaccine, but with Covid-19, the possibilities are horrifying.

I have only one guess as to why Trump is doing this: families with kids in PUBLIC SCHOOLS, the elderly and folks in other risk categories are FUNGIBLE. This is one more step in Steve Miller's master plan fed to and implemented by a useful idiot with no soul.

Just thinking of the other victims of this virus...

I am lucky that I can visit with my 7 year old granddaughter and my son but I can't get too close to them and I certainly can't hug them. That depresses me and makes me very sad because, at my age, I don't have any time to waste. BUT, I am one hell of a lot better off than the hundreds of thousands of seniors who have been prisoners in nursing homes and senior living facilities and sometimes in their own homes who have been cut off from enjoying the physical presence of their families and friends. They sit and wait for the leadership (questionable) of this country to get its act together

It has also saddens me to watch my little granddaughter try to keep her chin up when she hasn't been able to see her friends in almost 4 months and has struggled with learning from a tablet rather than from a real life teacher in a classroom. There has been no leadership from the White House or from that harridan who supposedly runs the Department of Education to help find a safe path back to school for these kids.

So we've got these seniors quietly waiting and trying to hold on until they can embrace their children again and these children desperate to get their lives back.

And the Super Spreader in Chief is in South Dakota tonight lobbying to get his bust chiseled on Mt. Rushmore.

Was Barr/Trump action last night against Berman a Hail Mary Pass, another distraction, a fit of

Trump temper, a finger in the dike or all of the above? I am guessing that the tax carbuncle that Trump has been sitting on is about to burst; Covid-19 is rearing its ugly head in red states and the base is beginning to notice; Trump is pissed off at everyone; and the shit is coming and SDNY has the fan.

Remaking police departments starts with the recruiting process.

Before you even get to training. In my state, a police recruit goes through a very "light" background check and a very cursory psychological review. This needs to change.

Lafayette Park in the late '60s was safe for protesters.

I remember being there numerous times, sitting on the grass, listening to anti-war speeches and enjoying the 'second hand smoke'. The police were always there but they were stationed inside buildings surrounding the park. On those occasions when they were evident, they got flowers from us. Nixon was in the WH. I never imagined that there could be a worse or more dangerous president than him.

Where has Mike Pence been?

Keeping his nose clean on the chance he might take over if Trump resigns, or to run in 2024?
