Anyone else want to learn the substance of the Whistleblower complaint BEFORE we count chickens?

There's plenty else to impeach on (payments to Stormy Daniels, coordination with Rusher, etc.), but I'd like some substantiation.

Who are the Dem Reps that DON'T want Impeachment?

I keep reading here that only a minority of the Democratic caucus wants Impeachment, that it's not a sure thing, that Pelosi won't allow a vote until it's sure to pass.

But WHO? Have any Democratic Congresspersons announced opposition to it? Made a public statement opposing it or expressing skepticism? Are these just inside-the-beltway whispers?

I haven't heard of any, and my Congresswoman, Pramila Jayapal, would vote for it in a heartbeat.

The Awful Truth: every President kills.

It's not negotiable. It's part of the job description when you run the American Empire, and the issue is whether you kill more or less than your predecessor. You cannot reverse course and survive in office. Just ask Carter.

Which is why it is essential to elect a person with an Ethical center to run our empire. Like Obama, who I proudly voted for, knowing he would order deaths.

BUT NOT TRUMP.

Obama got handed an Empire that was killing Muslims at an unprecedented rate, in a spasm of revenge for 9/11, in 2 wars of choice that shattered multiple nations, destroyed ancient cultures, ancient artifacts, and created multiple terrorist offshoots: Boko Haram, ISIL, Al Qaeda in the Sahel, etc.

How many Muslims did Bush II kill? A million?

Obama at least made that killing as discriminate as he could, but in 8 years, he couldn't even close fucking Gitmo. The murdering was still indiscriminate, and untold numbers of innocents died, but can anyone say it was as bad as President Cheney? Whoops, sorry, I slipped. I mean Bush II.

Omar's got a point, but it's drowning in naivete.

I'm counting FIVE separate posts on Trump's Rose Garden Gaslighting Session

Many without context in the OP.

Can we have ONE "official" thread, like we would for a Debate or a SOTU?

I'm sorry, but WTF is the "Doctrine of Patriotism", again?

I'd love President Asshole to get that question at his Press Conference today.

I truly don't know what Steven Miller meant. It probably means something dumb like "Murka Furst", but is there actually a doctrine?

Americans are desparately poor, and Conservatives don't seem to give a fuck.

My Mother-in-Law passed 2 weeks ago, and we put a lot of her home healthcare items up on Craigslist, for free. 4 wheel & 2 wheel walkers, a shower chair, a wedge pillow, a toilet seat extender. Nothing fancy.

I got 15 responses in 2 hours and took the post down, started trying to be fair about who would should get it. 1st responder first? Worst tale of woe?

I wound up giving one of the 2-wheel walkers ($60 new) to a woman who sounded dirt poor. She drove from Graham, WA to Seattle to get it. 50 miles. She was white, overweight, probably mid-50s (same as me), had a bum knee. I wound up also giving her the shower chair I'd promised to the 1st responder, because she so obviously was going to need it.

Contrast that to yesterday's mind-melting article on Ben Carson's attempts to destroy HUD in the face of people spending 70% of their monthly income on rent: http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/07/27/nyt/as-affordable-housing-crisis-grows-hud-sits-on-the-sidelines/

Carson doesn't want Section 8 recipients to get too comfortable in their homes. He can't seem to recognize that people are elderly or disabled, UNABLE to work, and they won't ever get better. Where are they supposed to go? What work are they supposed to do?

His solution? Triple the minimum rent.

Do you prefer an Incompetent Seat-Warmer, or a Malevolent Go-Getter?

I'm having a debate on another board, and the basic thrust is this: I'd rather have Betsy DeVos or Ben Carson in charge of a Federal Department than a Scott Pruitt.

In the former case, the Departments are moldering from neglect and incompetent leadership, but the in latter case, the EPA is being actively torn down and de-fanged by someone with an agenda and who knows what he's doing.

Brownie versus Machiavelli. Both are bad, but we have to favor the least worst while Dems are in the Wilderness.

60-year-old man fatally shot in road-rage incident on Interstate 5 near Tacoma

Source: Seattle Times

< MILTON, Pierce County — Authorities say a 60-year-old man was shot and killed in a road-rage altercation with a female motorcyclist on Interstate 5 south of Seattle.

Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova says the incident happened Thursday afternoon southbound on I-5 in Milton. Bova told The News Tribune that the 23-year-old motorcyclist and man in a car stopped in the left lane of the freeway after a dispute on the road.

Witnesses told responding troopers that the incident became physical and ended when the woman shot the man while they were fighting on the ground. Bova says the woman called 911 and was detained at the scene by troopers.

Bova says the man died at the scene. >

To Dick Durbin and every other Dem: never be the only Democrat in a room with Trump

Insist that there are others to corroborate. Even if its just 30 to 2, don't let it be 30 to 1.

We're sliding into Authoritarianism, and you can't count on Republicans to have an ounce of integrity.

Remind me: what happened to the Filibuster? Cloture? Senate Holds on Nominees?

You remember, McCain's vaunted "Regular Order", the time-honored Senate traditions that the GOP used to prevent Obama from getting shit done and filling Judicial appointments?

I did see that Grassley is planning to do away with "Blue Slips" that allow Senators to reject nominees from their home states. Which is burning another tradition to the ground in the interests of exercising their power today.

Is every order of business in the Senate being done through reconciliation?
