TYT: the REAL reason Tillerson is out

There has been a lot of speculation here and elsewhere about Tillerson leaving. Cenk provides what I think is the most cogent explanation: the cancelled Exxon/Rosneft deal.

I worry that Stephen Colbert will be black bagged

Like Stephen Frye in V for Vendetta. Is that stupid?

Cenk of the young Turks predicted Tillerson was out last week

Based on the fact that the multi trillion dollar Russian oil deal he was explicitly put in place to facilitate has been put on hold.

This act about him getting fired for saying something is lame. He was just of no use to Putin at this time.

Conservatives: Americans had it coming

Saw this posted by a friend on Facebook:

After every gun massacre, there is a subset of people who don't want any gun restrictions to come of it. And so they start speculating about other reasons (besides the insanely easy access to semi- and pseudo-automatic weapons) that these massacres happen. Therefore, they blame:

* The lack of prayer in school
* violent video games
* the lack of the 10 commandments in school
* kids, for being on their cell phones all the time
* the lack of mental health treatment in America
* our "sick culture" which includes violent movies and tv
* parents for not interfering with their kids' lives enough, not monitoring their every interaction, not being up their behinds enough, not being strict enough
* the victims for not being armed themselves

Guns cannot be to blame, you see, so it must be our fault. Americans had it coming, because we aren't godly enough or respectful enough or gun crazy enough or strict enough, or our culture includes entertainment with violence. It is the victims' fault, or our fault collectively.

I say to hell with that. Amercians don't deserve to be slaughtered. Our children don't deserve to be slaughtered. Americans are (by and large) really excellent people, and certainly no worse parents than in any other part of the world. Our entertainment is the world's entertainment. The only thing that we are at fault for is allowing our leadership to make our gun laws so weak that unhinged people and rapid-fire arms are bound to find each other. And we can (and should) do something about that.

I'm so sick of gun lovers blaming Americans, young Americans, unarmed Americans, peaceful Americans, Americans going to school, or to a concert, or to a peaceful protest, for their own demise at the hands of the NRA, the gun manufacturers, and the putrid politicians who are legally bribed by them. We didn't deserve this, and we will create a better America with stricter gun laws eventually, or die in the inevitable crossfire.

The Christian god murdered every man, woman, child, infant, and fetus

on Earth, except for 8 people (so the story goes). And yet, we are supposed to believe that he gives two shits about abortion.

It makes me feel all warm inside that the Christians in this country

who have thrown in with Donald Trump, have sold their birthright for a mess of pottage.

and disgusting pottage at that.

Yes, we'll never have to listen to anything that evangelicals have to say about what they think is "moral", ever again.

THE greatest takedown of religion ever captured on video

I'm sure this has been posted here time and again, but every once in a while I need to go back and witness this epic ass-whooping of religion, and Christian theology, administered by Matt Dillahunty.

If you can stand the caller's special pleading and sunday school theology, watch (or re-watch) this rational, fearless, and moral takedown

lucky and unlucky

I got a diagnosis of cancer less than two weeks ago. I was rushed through the diagnostics needed to start treatment and began chemotherapy last week. I'm very lucky - the cancer is a curable kind, my doctors are among the best in the world, and my work-provided insurance will cover nearly everything.

and yet, facing this, being sick for the next half a year, losing my hair, trying to work enough to keep my bosses happy in between naps and treatments ... I can't help but think about all of my friends and family members, acquaintances, all the people for whom this diagnosis would not only be a nightmare, but a financial ruin as well. The guilt, the fear, would be overwhelming, on top of everything else that needs to be overcome.

why do we allow our government and corporations to do this to us? It is inhuman and sickening.
