One good thing about Trump:

Trump promises to cut taxes "massively" (goodbye deficit and debt control; goodbye safety net).
Trump promises to cut regulations by "75%" (goodbye environment and good health; hello next economic crash).
Thank goodness he lies about everything!

Dylan Roof

The Charelston self-taught racist who gunned down 9 people at the oldest black church in SC was not allowed to buy a gun because of a previous drug felony. When he went to buy the Glock that he used in the crime the owner dutifully filed the FBI notification and told him he could come back in 3 days to get the gun. Since the gun shop did not hear from the FBI after the 72 hour period, he walked out with the gun.
The FBI later called to tell the shop not to sell the gun --- 12 days after the massacre had taken place.
There are not words adequate to express how wrong and stupid this is.

I am having to enter my user and password every time I open the site. Any way to avoid that?

One good thing....

the racists are now out of the closet.
We heard about the 'silent' Trump voters who were ashamed to admit they were voting for him. Well, they can't help crowing now, and many finally feel free, free at last, to let their freaky racist flag fly.
This is (still) America, so you have the right to be an asshole, but now we know who you are.
There are a lot of people that I will not ever speak to again unless it is to tell them what a deplorable piece of shit they are.

Discussion with Trump supporter

Had a talk (or argument) this morning with a guy who says he won't vote for Trump, but will pull the lever next to his name as a vote against Hillary (I do realize that doesn't make any sense).
He is an executive in a fairly large firm, so I asked him if he would consider hiring Trump to work in his company.
With no hesitation, he said, "Hell, no. We couldn't stand the lawsuits from our minority and female employees, and he wouldn't be able to get along with anybody."

Guess he cares more about his company than his country.

Is no one watching the Olympics?

Source: NBC TV on now

I was thinking some people might laugh at the two Brazilian men who were crying like little girls when they shocked everyone by winning a silver and bronze in the gymnast competition, but I couldn't laugh because I was about to tear up watching their pure joy.

Makes you understand the real essence of sports as opposed to the million dollar prima donnas we are used to watching on TV.

Why are the gun defenders here?

Here on DU I mean. This is a serious question. If I post this is a thread I will be accused of attacking some other poster.

There are several posters here who post nothing except doctrinaire defenses of the NRA positions. I know that is their right as a citizen, but why would they spend so much of their time here when their position is diametrically opposed in the Democratic platform and in complete agreement with the GOP/Trump position?

Again, not attacking any one person or their right to hold that belief, but I seriously have questions about the motivation of "No Gun Restrictions" defenders on a Democratic forum.

Woody Allen's take on guns

"Oh, he was probably a member of the National Rifle Association. It was a group that helped criminals get guns so they could shoot citizens. It was a public service." -Sleeper (1973)

From over 4 decades ago. Sleeper was a great movie; I had forgotten this quote.
