Trump didn't even know Ghislaine Maxwell (??)

That is was what I was told by a Trump campaign staffer on LinkedIn. After I posted the link below, with its very first photo being the exact photo that he had said was photoshopped, he still maintained that it was a "fake."
I told him I gave up. He had obviously won the argument by his criteria, which is that shouting "Fake News" loud enough makes any fact disappear. I left him with one of my favorite quotes from George Bernard Shaw:
"Never wrestle a pig. You both get dirty, and then you realize that the pig is enjoying it."

“Hell, he couldn’t secure the US Capitol two blocks away.”

Bob Marley and the abortion debate

Bob Marley injured a toe kicking a soccer ball, and when it didn’t heal, doctors found a melanoma under the nail. He was advised to have the toe amputated immediately, but his Rastafarian faith did not allow him to remove any part of the “temple” that God had created. This decision cost him his life.
What does this have to do with abortion? Opposition to abortion is as much a religious decision as was Marley’s choice not to have his toe removed.
How would anti-abortion activists react if told they would have to die rather than have a toe removed because the Rastafarian majority in the Supreme Court decided to follow their faith?

Can getting the vaccine give you Covid?

OK, title is somewhat clickbait, but it kinda did happen to a friend of mine whom I had not seen since pre-pandemic days, and he mentioned that he had Covid last March.

He had no side effects from his first Pfizer shot, but started feeling bad a few days later and went to the Doctor. He was confirmed as having Covid, and while he was very sick for several days, he recovered without going to the hospital.
In getting info from him to submit to CDC, the Doctor told him it was almost certain that he acquired the virus during the 45 minutes or so that he sat in the Walgreens waiting area to get his shot. He said that the virus starts to grow as soon as you get the necessary load of viral spores, while the vaccine takes days to begin to offer protection, so he basically had to endure a non-vaccinated case.

He said it was a funny story, but funny only because he survived it.

Clemson Wins!

Declaring ESPN to be “fake news,” Clemson coach “Datboy” Swinney said that a forensic audit of the game with NC State showed that the Tiggers definitely won, probably by the biggest margin in NCAA history.
Swinney, a noted amateur evangelist, pointed out that more than 90% of the fans dressed in Halloween orange at the game were heard to proclaim, “How bout them Tigers” at several points in the game.
Current President-for-Life Donald Trump was among the first to call and congratulate Swinney, offering to serve the victorious team another meal of McDonalds hamburgers if Swinney would agree to give him his credit card number “just to guarantee the purchase.”

(an informal newspaper poll in 2020 showed that more than 3/4 of Clemson season ticket holders were supporters of the Orange Malignancy)

SC hits surge levels again

SC is currently reporting over 5,000 cases, the fourth highest total yet.
The scary thing is that the other top five case days were from January 6 through 15th, levels we thought we would never see again.
Another point to make you sick/angry/ depressed — in the S.C. forum there is a post from August 1st, just three weeks ago, where our trump-humping Governor was blaming the media for hyperbole by exaggerating the seriousness of the current surge.
So yes, if you live in most red states your government would rather you die than have the asshole GOP primary voters mad at them.

Cuomo should have just written

a one sentence letter like Nixon did.
That was the most graceless exit ever.

My congratulations to Jeff Bezos

“Let me ask you one question,
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness?
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find,
When your death takes its toll,
All the money you’ve made will never buy back your soul.”

My friend, the anti-masker

Good friend of mine was in a store, and was one of about half of the crowd wearing a mask.
A woman in her 30s or 40s approached him and said, "I don't mean to be rude, but why are you wearing that mask? Even Fauci and the CDC no longer recommend it."

He said his response just came to him. Leaning towards her, he said in a low voice, "Oh, I agree, and I have never worn them when I could avoid it, but my doctor made me promise to since I had a positive Covid test yesterday. I haven't had any symptoms, so I decided....." He said she didn't hear the rest of what he was saying as she was backing away from him at a quick pace.

for the record, he is fully vaccinated and, like me, says he will continue to mask up so that no one will suspect him of being a Republican.
