¿QuestionS about the Flynn "unmasking"

Okay so I read this week that Flynn’s name was never actually masked in the FBI report (or was it a transcript) about the phone with the Russian ambassador. It was my understanding that his name WAS masked in something. I also understood that 37 or something people requested his name be unmasked.

Was there a NSA report separate from the FBI one?
Was his name masked on a report?
Was there a request(s) for his name being unmasked?
Have I fallen for rightwing talking points funneled through other media?

Damn you blaze orange, hard hats, and seat belts

So here in Va it looks like Gov. Northam is considering requiring masks in public.

The expected “You can’t tell me....” crowd has showed up on line.

I saw the three items above mentioned. Pretty funny. There could be more examples.

Well, I have to say I'm pretty damned impressed. Local medical operation.

So in the midst of the “life reset” I’ve undertaken during this horrible opportunity I finally decided it was time to get put up on the rack and get a thorough check up. I have really good coverage and lots of time (leave) to do what I need.

I have issues with gout, an orthopedic situation as a result of walking funny during gout attacks, aaaand high blood pressure. I’ve been one of those people who goes to a “doc in a box” WHEN something arises. No regular preventative care.

VCU Health (formerly “MCV”) is one of the two big hospital operations around here. I’d like to note that these were mostly for non-critical care type things and away from the main facilities. I didn’t realize how large my alma mater’s operation was.

So last week I call to see an orthopedic podiatrist. Knowing this has to be in person (x-ray) I expect a long wait. Nope. Appointment on Monday. Okay. Straight into x-ray. In and out in 45 minutes. Got an steroid injection in my other foot for a pinched nerve. Signed up on the portal - really good and easy - all my records in one place. No need to call or come back in, keep them informed via the portal.

I also needed to go back and see my former rheumatologist. I was told initially it was a 3 month wait. I just did a tele Health call with her this morning.

On Monday I got a blood pressure number that needed to be addressed. I sent a message to cardiology via the portal on Monday and had 3 phone appointment phone calls since then. I need to just go to the doc in a box, get tested, get a ‘scrip, and wait for an appointment for primary care through VCU which could (at this time) take months. The 3rd call yesterday set up an appointment next Tuesday. Not downtown. 5 minutes from my house. Blood work for the gout will be done at this appointment.

Very impressive.

A few observations:
-Going to the first on-site appointment was like getting into a military base. Screening, testing, distancing etc.
- A real ❤️ breaking moment. A woman with her very autistic son at the check in. He simply can’t process wearing a mask. She said they could try but it probably wouldn’t work. I hadn’t thought of that. Lots of people who are REQUIRED to wear masks when they go back to work are going to have a lesser level of this problem.
- Everyone appears to “get it” but VCU setting the rules goes a long way in helping that.

Very very impressed by the whole operation. Seamless.

Recommendations on MASKS

Not really style but performance.
Yes K/N95’s are great but are they available?
So, suggestions?

The CDC says washable cotton masks are recommended

Gov. Cuomo. The Americans First Law. YES!!!

He's killing it. Tearing up corporations taking our money
To “get lean” and fire employees. Lessons learned from 2008. Executive bonuses and parties. He was AG of New York.

The Americans First Law.
Corporations can’t take money AND fire employees.

If they take govt money they must hire the same NUMBER of employees.

Not funding states - New York - means that he has to cut somewhere to fund police fire hospitals etc.

Chincoteague VA Volunteer Fire Dept. - Pony swim cancelled.

Chincoteague Pony Swim canceled for first time since WWII

There won’t be any ponies paddling from Assateague Island to Chincoteague this year thanks to COVID-19, according to a spokeswoman for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.

The 2020 Chincoteague Island Pony Swim set for July 29 has officially been scrapped, as well as the Chincoteague Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival and the pony penning celebration.

The purpose of the pony swim is to move the ponies from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island so that the foals can be auctioned. The auction helps to control the size of the herd, and it’s also a fundraiser for the volunteer fire company.

It usually takes place the day after the swim, and this year, it’ll happen virtually. The auction date has yet to be determined.

Clustertrump re-inventing the wheel with this COVID-19 Rx award

Trump to Tap New Company to Make Covid-19 Drugs in the U.S.

The Trump administration on Tuesday will announce one of the largest-ever contracts to bring pharmaceutical manufacturing from abroad to a new plant in Virginia.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration will announce on Tuesday that it has signed a $354 million four-year contract with a new company in Richmond, Va., to manufacture generic medicines and pharmaceutical ingredients that are needed to treat Covid-19 but are now made overseas, mostly in India and China.

The contract, awarded to Phlow Corp. by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, meshes President Trump’s “America First” economic promises with concerns that coronavirus treatments be manufactured in the United States. It may be extended for a total of $812 million over 10 years, making it one of the largest awards in the authority’s history.

It was unclear why the administration decided to award such a large contract to a new company when an entire industry exists — known as contract manufacturing — that makes drugs for other companies. However, manufacturers that operate in the United States generally make finished products using raw ingredients imported from elsewhere. They do not make the raw ingredients.

Background on Phlow and it’s founder at link.

Louisa VA "the two melon heads" robbed a Sheetz

Police: Man wearing watermelon on his head arrested in Louisa Sheetz robbery

?resize=720%2C960

But despite everything seen in the past two months, the two melonheads who walked into the Louisa Sheetz on May 6 would have turned some heads.

The Louisa Police Department posted a news release on its Facebook page Saturday seeking information about two people who donned hollowed-out watermelons with holes cut out for their eyes and entered the store at 9:35 p.m. May 6.

However, according to a dispatcher with the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, one of the people in the photo was arrested earlier in the week. After inquiries from The Daily Progress, the post was updated to say an arrest has been made.

Comments on the Facebook post were full of photos from other people who apparently had seen the duo elsewhere in town.

Anyone on Duo Lingo, Babel, Rosetta Stone? FREE options

I started Espanol on Rosetta and did Duo at the same time. I’ve stayed on Duo after the free Rosetta ran out. Babel is offering lifetime for about a year of Rosetta.

Haven’t tried Babel yet.

Rosetta is all listening and voice. Probably more constructive for conversation.

Duo...whew. Lots of typing. Luckily there’s auto fill for the English. Spelling - Camila is ok but not Camilla. You can turn off speaking Spanish.
