Report: Marijuana legalization leads to increased snack sales

States that have legalized marijuana have seen a higher increase in snack sales compared to states that haven't, according to a recent report from Nielsen.

"Marijuana consumption has been clinically and anecdotally shown to increase a consumers’ appetite ...... according to the Nielsen report. "And sales data from within the U.S. Census divisions where cannabis has been legalized for recreational use supports the munchies effect."

There have been increased sales of both salty and sweet snacks over the past year in the U.S., totaling $29.9 billion in salty snack sales and $6.5 billion in sweet snack sales, according to the data.

Man caught driving stolen car filled with radioactive uranium, rattlesnake, whiskey, Guthrie police

GUTHRIE, Okla. —
Guthrie police had quite the surprise when they pulled over a car with an expired tag – the car turned out to be stolen, and police said they found a canister of radioactive uranium, a rattlesnake, and an open bottle of Kentucky Deluxe whiskey.

According to Guthrie police, an officer was patrolling the area of the 300 block of Viking Drive on June 25, when he noticed a car with an expired tag. The officer pulled over the car and spoke with the driver, later identified as 41-year-old Stephen Jennings.

Police said Jennings’ driver’s license was suspended, and the car he was driving had been reported stolen. He reportedly told officers that he had a firearm in the center console, and there was a timber rattlesnake in an aquarium in the back seat.

Jennings has been charged with a felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle, and misdemeanor counts of transporting an open container of liquor, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and failure to carry security verification form. His passenger, Racheal Rivera, is charged with possession of firearm after a former felony conviction.

"This is a question that's been included in every census since 1965," 😄 a sadly funny LIE

I'm sure this has been covered here but I heard the local talk radio idiot yesterday claim the citizenship question has ALWAYS been on the Census until Obama decided we didn't need it anymore in 2010...so I had to check it out. Short, straightforward, sound like you know what you are talking about, that's the key to their propaganda.....but then there's the actual truth.
One last point - Trump had absolutely no position to comment on this at all. It's been decided by the courts and it's the responsibility of Congress not the Executive Branch.

NPR FACT CHECK: Has Citizenship Been A Standard Census Question?

The claim
"This is a question that's been included in every census since 1965," (Sarah Huckabee) Sanders said Tuesday, "with the exception of 2010, when it was removed."

Sanders mentioned the year 1965 on Tuesday, but the census only comes every 10 years, so it isn't clear what she was referring to, and the White House did not respond to a request for clarification. That's funny in that she skipped over the painfully obvious math in her lie.

The last time a citizenship question was among the census questions for all U.S. households was in 1950. That form asked where each person was born and in a follow-up question asked, "If foreign born — Is he naturalized?"

In 1960, there was no such question about citizenship, only about place of birth.

In 1970, the Census Bureau began sending around two questionnaires: a short-form questionnaire to gather basic population information and a long form that asked detailed questions about everything from household income to plumbing. The short form went to most households in America. The long form was sent to a much smaller sample of households, 1 in 6. Most people didn't get it.

Starting in 1970, questions about citizenship were included in the long-form questionnaire but not the short form. For instance, in 2000, those who received the long form were asked, "Is this person a CITIZEN of the United States?"

The short form kept it simple: name, relationship, age, sex, Hispanic origin, race, marital status and whether the home is owned or rented.

Later, the census added the American Community Survey, conducted every year and sent to 3.5 million households. It began being fully implemented in 2005. It asks many of the same questions as the census long-form surveys from 1970 to 2000, including the citizenship question.

But if the 2020 census form does ultimately ask about citizenship status, it will be the first time the U.S. census has directly asked for the citizenship status of every person living in every household. --- emphasis from the article.

Saturn will be visible tonight .....yep didn't make a joke about Uranus

Saturn will be so close to Earth this month that its rings will be visible through a normal telescope. On Tuesday, the ringed planet will shine at its maximum brightness and come less than a million miles from Earth. That means planet gazers can see Saturn's rings in any telescope that magnifies to at least 20 power, or sharper, Space.com reports.

On Tuesday, Saturn will lie on the opposite side of the sky as the sun, and its brightness will rival some of the shiniest stars in the galaxy. In fact, Saturn would rank as the seventh-brightest star if it was compared to the 21 brightest stars, according to Space.com.

Saturn will rise in the east-southeast and set in the west-northwest, and at around 1 a.m. local daylight time, it will be visible in the southern region of the sky. If you don't have a telescope, you could still see Saturn with the naked eye – it will look like a bright yellow-white star, according to Space.com. Just look toward the star pattern known as the "Teapot" in the Sagittarius constellation.

From my thread about bees

Anyone else see a clown in this pic?

Dilemma- ground bees.

So we just had a pro come and take care of a ground hornet nest.

This morning in the back yard I see a bunch bees flying around in one spot on the ground. I check it out and there’s a hole. They are going in and out. Look I know bees are important (at our old place I routinely left clover uncut for them) but I don’t want anyone getting stung by them. Apparently just flooding them usually does the trick.

(Shatner voice) BUT..... should I!?!

¿Opinions?

Oh and there’s this too:

Make a soda bottle trap

A soda bottle trap attracts the bees and then traps them; they eventually drown in a solution and die a slow death. You can easily make your own soda bottle trap at home using a used soda bottle or any plastic bottle. Cut it in half and fill one portion of it with sweet soda or some fruit juice. Hang it on or around the beehive in the ground and leave it for a few days.
