Thunder in Greenland - unheard of for 30 years

An island imperiled
As their home melts, Greenlanders confront the fallout of climate change.

TASIILAQ, Greenland — When a severe thunderstorm rattled the town of Tasiilaq in East Greenland in April, it was all the 2,000 residents could talk about.

“Facebook was full of people saying, ‘I was doing this and then I heard the thunder,’ and when I went to my job, everyone was talking about it,” said Anna Kûitse Kúko, 63, who has lived in the coastal town for most of her life. “It’s just so rare. We maybe hear some thunder one time in 30 years. It was scary.”

For Kúko — who was born outdoors, delivered by her grandmother “in nature, just on the other side of the mountains” on the edge of town — the ominous roars, cracks and rumbles were just another way that she and her neighbors have seen their environment change over the last 15 years.

POQUOSON, Va. - A video allegedly depicting Poquoson High School athletes screaming racial slurs has prompted school officials to take action.

As a result of the incident, the football game against York High School and all associated activities scheduled for Friday, September 13 have been canceled, the school announced on its website.

Poquoson City Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer B. Parish issued the following statement condemning the incident:

In a statement, a spokesperson for the York County School Division said they "respectfully understand the decision" to cancel the game against York High in light of the incident:

The York County School Division and York High School appreciate the communication and consideration that the Poquoson City Schools leadership has provided throughout this week and we respectfully understand the decision that division made in the interest of student safety.

Justice Department to reveal name of (Saudi)individual accused of aiding 9/11 hijackers

https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/12/politics/fbi-9-11-saudi-name/index.html

Washington (CNN)The Justice Department will reveal the name of an individual believed to be connected to the Saudi government and accused of aiding two of the 9/11 hijackers, prosecutors said in a court filing Thursday.

The person's identity will remain a closely guarded secret for now, though it will be shared with attorneys representing the families of victims of the attacks who have alleged the government of Saudi Arabia helped to coordinate the terrorists in a lawsuit. the attorneys can then petition the Justice Department to release the name wider.

That the disclosure came under President Donald Trump is especially striking given the administration's efforts to maintain close relations with the powerful Arab ally, including by downplaying the kingdom's involvement in the recent murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Attorney General William Barr made the final decision, a Justice Department official said.

Attorneys for the families have argued that the unnamed individual is likely a more senior Saudi official and point to a portion of the document where the FBI said a person whose name is redacted "tasked" al-Thumairy and al-Bayoumi with "assisting the hijackers."

Laura Ingraham 😳 - steak through a straw with lightbulbs - 3rd level STUPID.

Saw this on Facebook- Unilad is generally a stupid website but this is where we are.

Fox News Anchor Tries To Drink Light Bulb-Stuffed Steak To ‘Trigger’ Liberals

A Fox News opinion host has gone to new lengths to troll liberals by attempting to drink a steak stuffed with incandescent light bulbs through a plastic straw.

While sitting with the huge piece of meat in front of her, it suddenly dawned in Ingraham that solid foods aren’t usually consumed through a straw.

Plastic straws and beef also came up in conversation at the climate change meeting as Democrats have advocated for paper straws and reduced consumption of red meat, due to its contribution to greenhouse gasses.
