Walmart ends all handgun ammunition sales and asks customers not to carry guns into stores

Source: CNN

New York(CNN Business) Walmart on Tuesday announced it will reduce its gun and ammunition sales, one month after more than 20 people were killed in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Walmart also pressured Congress to enact gun safety measures.

The company, America's largest retailer, said it will stop selling handgun ammunition and ammunition for short-barrel rifles after selling all of its current inventory. Walmart (WMT) will also stop selling handguns in Alaska, the only state where it still sells handguns. And Walmart will request that customers no longer openly carry guns into its 4,700 US stores, or its Sam's Club stores, in states that allow open carry.

However, Walmart will continue to sell long barrel deer rifles and shotguns and much of the ammunition for those guns. Walmart will also continue to allow concealed carry by customers with permits in its stores.

Thanks to malaise for this

Boris Johnson needs to continue as prime minister until November 20 to avoid becoming the shortest-serving PM in UK history.

On that date he will overtake George Canning, who clocked up 118 days as prime minister before his death in 1827, and who holds the record for the shortest time in office.

Mr Johnson is currently on 41 days.

How about some *good news*? Hallmark to air 40 new Christmas movies this year!!!!

Hallmark's Christmas Movie Schedule for 2019 Already Has Us Feeling the Holiday Cheer

The more, the merrier — especially when Hallmark Christmas movies are involved. While it might feel like the holiday season is far away, Hallmark is here to make our spirits bright (months in advance): To celebrate its 10th anniversary of holiday magic, Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will air 40 brand-new Christmas movies in total, starting October 25. That means that we're in store for 40 times the hot cocoa, Christmas carols, and tree lighting scenes.

While the exact schedule is still in the works, the network has already confirmed the projects of some of our favorite Hallmark regulars (and Queens of Christmas) Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Lacey Chabert. As you wait for the most wonderful time of the year to kick off, learn more about the star-studded movies you'll be watching from October through December. And if you're too impatient, you can also watch their most popular holiday movies from years past every Friday night as a part of Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas."

Odessa shooter had a hand grenade in his car.

No. He didn't. I made that up.

Before you get pissed off at me think about this for a second. What difference is there? He could have killed that many and hurt that many but it would have to be a very different scenario. Live hand grenades are really hard to get, for a reason. I've thrown two live ones and it's an incredible amount of killing power in one handful (Army basic training).

This guy was driving around with a human meat grinder in his car. Loaded or easily quickly loaded.
If he had a hand grenade in his car people would say "OH THATS TO MUCH". A matter of degree is a fallacy. No one should be driving around with either.

(Not new...but) Artificial vanilla flavoring is probably NOT made from Beaver butt goo

My daughter brought this up so I had to check I out.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/castoreum/

PUBLISHED 5 FEBRUARY 2013

Because of its scent properties castoreum has long been employed in the perfume-making industry, and processed forms of castoreum have also been used as food additives, in the latter case primarily as enhancers of vanilla, strawberry and raspberry flavorings found in products such as iced tea, ice cream, gelatin, candy, fruit-flavored drinks, and yogurt.

The use of castoreum in common food products today is exceedingly rare, in large part because collecting the substance is difficult (and therefore expensive):

According to Fernelli’s Handbook of Flavor Ingredients, total annual national consumption of castoreum, castoreum extract, and castoreum liquid combined is only about 292 pounds, which works out to an average of less than a millionth of a pound per person in the U.S. Compare that figure with the approximately 20 million pounds of vanilla naturally harvested from real vanilla beans every year. Depending upon as scarce a substance as castoreum to flavor the ice cream and candy found on store shelves would create nationwide shortages of those items and drive up their prices beyond the reach of all but the wealthiest consumers.

In 2011, the Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG) queried five companies that produce vanilla flavorings about whether they used any castoreum in their products, and all five replied that they did not:

So here's Trump's weekend so far

Well it started yesterday with a flurry of tweets having almost nothing to do it anything relevant.
He skipped he trip to Poland to commemorate the beginning of WORLD WAR f'ing TWO because Putin wasn't going to be there ...I mean because he ended to track the hurricane from Camp David....and from his golf course.

Today

Pffft 8 dead? "It could have been worse".

Put on a jacket and a hat (which are for sale by the way) and went to a meeting so he looked like he gives a crap only to make it clear that he's really only worried about Mar-a-lago. He also made it clear in a tweet that he doesn't know where Alabama is. Aaaaaand he's never heard of a CAT 5 hurricane (because he thought the range stopped at 4) so you probably didn't know about it either because he knows more than you about everything. This includes CAT 5 hurricanes which he tweeted about at least 5 times since 2017.
