I too lost confidence in CBS News over what they did to Dan Rather and Mary Mapes. But it was also typical of what was done to anyone trying to tell the truth in public about dubya. Media people lost their jobs all over the country for trying to do so, at publications large and small. Photographers too. Remember when no one was allowed to photograph the flag-draped coffins coming home from Iraq? Nobody dared report on the REAL cost of that war. Their own cowardly necks were at risk if they did. Not once was the nation allowed to honor the dead troops from Iraq when their bodies were returned to Dover AFB. NO coverage whatsoever was allowed. Lazy chickenshit SOBs bush and cheney couldn't be bothered to go to Dover AFB to greet the caskets. Heaven forbid America should see the real cost of this war! Had to perpetuate the PNAC illusion that this was a fucking cakewalk that would last no more than six weeks and all that surefire Iraqi oil money would pay for so the almighty American taxpayer wouldn't have to be troubled any. And let's all not forget, either - that was one of the FIRST things President Obama did once he'd been sworn in. He got his ass to Dover AFB to meet the returning caskets. Didn't matter that it was in the middle of the night. He went when they were scheduled to arrive, and the cameras and microphones were there, too - freely informed and invited by the White House.

Well, well, well. MOST interesting, and satisfying, to see this start coming back up.

The "coverage" of it was originally in 2010 and obviously didn't move the meter any - or maybe people just didn't want to pay attention because they had this inexplicable teabagger crush on rand paul. Well, I'm THRILLED to see this is getting more attention again. WE started some of that rediscovery a few weeks ago, I think, with various posts about it here.

It reminds me of when I was still working, and I interviewed then-TV talk show host Jenny Jones about her breast implant surgery that turned VERY bad. She admitted up front that she went to a NON-board-certified plastic surgeon. Didn't really check him out tooo much, knew he wasn't board-certified but didn't let that stop her. Mainly, he was much cheaper than the board-certified doctors. HUGE mistake! She lived to regret that horribly destructive and painful penny-wise/pound foolish decision. The guy frickin' maimed her. She had little recourse. She had the implants removed and decided against any reconstructive surgery because she couldn't afford it and there was just way too much scar tissue from the complications that ensued. Maybe now it would be more of an option but that was, I think, some 25-30 years ago, when it wasn't. That stuck with me like glue! He was NOT board-certified. She said it was the stupidest mistake she ever made and MAN did she suffer for it.

I have had a long history of involvement with eye doctors, optometrists and ophthalmologists, being extremely near-sighted pretty much from birth. Glasses, contact lenses of all kinds, hard lenses, soft lenses, experimental lenses, etc. My parents always took me to board-certified EVERYBODY. I wouldn't risk my vision even if it was much cheaper! I wouldn't dare!

I guess some Kentuckians are fine with it but I sure as hell am NOT! And as the link below (from 2010) clearly indicates, it's a sure-fire indication of the kind of self-centered, opportunistic, corner-cutting, sneaky-ass, slicky-boy cheat he is. Seriously - you want that in a presidential hopeful (much less, God forbid, a President)????

Another tiny bit of the world saved! I did that at my neighborhood bank. Complained and complained again when I'd go in there and see that damn channel on their monitor. Finally, one day - CNBC! I commented on that, too - thanked them for changing the channel. They said they'd had complaints. I don't know if there were any other complaints than mine, but I DO know, it got changed. Who cares how? All I know is, I'm as Machiavellian as the next guy, and I'll always try to do what I can. ANYWHERE I am that I can, if I see Pox Noise on somewhere, I will try to get the channel changed.

I find chris christie disgusting. I see nothing there that is appealing. NOTHING. But there they are, all the chattering class, acting as though he's the new savior of the world or something. YUCK!!!!!! Why this guy is being damn near worshipped is just utterly beyond me.

I am just automatically not interested. NOT interested! What they want is a return to the Bronze Age. What they want is a revival of the Confederacy. What they want is everybody but the rich kicked to the curb. What they want is to keep people from voting because that's the only way they can win anymore. What they want is to turn the clock back on all the progress and gains we've made as people, and as a nation. What they want is for women to shut up and go back to the kitchen (when we aren't spreading our legs on demand). What they want is for the black guy in the Oval Office to be the mere janitor who leaves when the "real" (read: Anglo) President arrives. What they want is all brown people to "self-deport," and all black people to return to plantations. What they want is for religion to run everything, and not just any religion but some narrow, pinched, antiquated, irrelevant, cruelty-based neo-Puritanism. What they want is for everything to be of by and for the military, and for every individual to be forced by law to be packin' heat. What they want is to silence any voices that don't belong to the one percent.

What they want is IRRELEVANT to me. And in many cases, disgusting to me. I'm just not interested in what they want. What they want is bad, unjust, unfair, selfish, short-sighted, irrational, unrealistic, not fact-based, stupid, and just simply WRONG. And profoundly damaging to the future of our country and all of us who are part of it.

political "Second Coming" or something. Maybe they should all be sent kneepads by us viewers and listeners. With a little jar of Vaseline or something. CRIMINY the man-crush that some of these talking heads have.

I agree with you, Prophet 451. FUCK chris christie and his so-called "plain-speaking" bullshit facade! Just FUCK him. Mean pushy bullying belligerent assholes stomping around with mountain-sized chips on their shoulders are a TURN-OFF!!! I find the whole in-yer-face schtick to be tiresome and loathsome from the get-go.
