Yeah, no freakin' kidding!!!

Democrats! PLEASE get it through your thick heads: chris christie is NOT your friend. And he's never GONNA be your friend. He's the enemy. Whether he has the luster of victory on him or not. He's STILL the enemy and he's not to be trusted!

Hell, I'd go so far as to advocate for nationalizing some of their industries.

We ARE still at war, after all. Neutralize their power base (ie: their money). They deal in energy, petroleum, lumber, and other essential natural resources (that belong to all of America, btw). We ARE still at war, after all. Drastic steps might be necessary.

Well, it sure worked out well with the "sure-bet" races starting todd akin, christine o'donnell, and

richard mourdock, didn't it? They opened their big mouths and BOOM! And if it weren't for these nutbags, any even remotely-moderate GOPer would have carried the day. Particularly in Missouri. We'd have no more Claire McCaskill, that's for sure. Taking out Richard Lugar in Indiana served us well, too, thank Heaven! And I also love how Miss "I am not a witch" is only famous for THAT. Not for the title "Senator" in front of her name.

We dodged a bullet in those cases, certainly. We dodged the bullet in Virginia last night. And I love how the birther ted cruz wannabe was sent packing. Unfortunately we still have a republi-CON in that seat, but the lesser of two great evils, at least.

I would love to see the teabaggers - as a "party" completely neutered and driven out of business. So much the better for the rest of us.

Welcome to DU, tina tron!

Glad you're here! I'm just happy to hear it's not as hopelessly red across the board in Virginia aside from the northern counties! I'm glad there's at least a little bit of encouragement.

But I've gotta say - I can understand the red part, and at the same time I CANNOT understand it. I'm just at a loss to understand why or how these folks believe the things they believe, here in the 21st Century. NOTHING of it makes sense to me.
I don't understand the clinging to religion to explain things that have nothing to do with religion, like science.
I don't understand the urge to sublimate women, crush our progress and deny the rights we fought so hard to win (even while we came up short on things like the Equal Rights Amendment). This isn't the Bronze Age, folks!
I don't understand the infantile denial of global warming.
I don't understand the basic idea that fuels some of these folks - who seem excited by all the cataclysm in the weather and the increasing unrest in the world because it means Jesus can be induced to come back sooner than later. Like He's some sort of Heavenly Cleaning Man or Mr. Fix-It or something. In Catholic school I was taught that no one forces the Hand of God, and God isn't subject to OUR timelines, and it's not for us to know when the End Times are near.
I don't understand the poor sportsmanship - if you can't win on the issues, then rig the vote. Then cheat. Then game the system.
I don't understand the earnestness to deny whole swaths of legitimate voters the right to vote.
I don't understand the relentless embrace of slavery and sublimation of an entire group of people - and the longing to have those "good old days" back.
I don't understand the wish to keep certain blocks of the population as a permanent underclass, to deny them rights and citizenship and full participation. They're HERE. They're fellow human beings. They are affected by every law, every convention, every government act, everything. They participate in the system and help prop it up from WAY down underneath. They should have a voice, and not be silenced.
I don't understand how a whole segment of the population is presumed not to be worthy of loving and building a life with whom they wish. That it's up to some arbitrary external approval and judgmental system what they're allowed to do in the privacy of their homes and their lives.
I don't understand the wish to homeschool just so you can avoid things that are taught in conventional school and fill your unsuspecting yet trusting children's innocent minds with all kinds of Neanderthal crap that they grow up with and accept as their reality.
I don't understand the denial of this "War of Northern Aggression" crap. BULLSHIT. The denial of reality is just astonishing to me!!! The wish to rewrite history is just anathema to me! Hey, facts are facts, folks! Sometimes you don't like 'em, and that's just how it is. We have facts to face on our side that we don't like, either, but we had to accept them and get over it and cope. The entire bush/cheney era comes to mind. The reality behind "St. ronnie" comes to mind. And it goes on from there!
I just don't understand it. I know it's all for real. But it makes NO sense to me.

No sense at all. Just don't understand it. Don't understand how the teabaggers and others of their ilk can feel this way. Don't understand their hate. Don't understand their WILLFUL ignorance - even PROUD ignorance. Don't understand it. Don't know if I ever will.

Seems to me a beating is a beating. Regardless of the gender of the victim.

Years ago, my husband was roughed up by an off-duty cop. He was driving a few miles over the speed limit on a new stretch of freeway on the outskirts of town - very little traffic on there. Pulled over by an off-duty cop in a NON-police car. Wasn't even an unmarked car! He didn't pull over because he didn't recognize the driver as ANY sort of cop. The lawyers took over on that one. And my guy had to go to abuse counseling - thank God that was available to him.

I have another longtime friend who's gay, and he got into a relationship with a partner who turned violent on him. He didn't get much help or sympathy. I have a feeling it was because he's gay - everybody just sniffed and scoffed and said it was a lovers' quarrel and pretty much dismissed him. He's never been the same since. And unlike with my husband, there were no services available to my friend - nobody cared. I'm pretty sure it was because he's gay and there wasn't much sympathy or concern. It pissed me off!

A beating is a beating. By any other name. It's still a BEATING. It's abuse. It's a violent act. It is a criminal act. It's assault. It's a sin. There is no excuse. And it doesn't make any difference if the victim is male or female or gay or straight. It's still a BEATING.

I'm so sorry you went through that, Recursion. NOBODY should.

Yeah, pretty much. We won more than we lost! Teabaggers won't get that, though.

They don't WANT to get that. They won't take a hint. Don't think they need to. That alternate reality thing is just too good.

But the rest of us know.

November 6, 2013

That's how he appears to me. Very definitely.

A lout and a bully. But then again, I was never an enthusiast of "in-yer-face."

November 6, 2013

I can understand how you feel.

Waving the flag and saying "thank you for your service" is easy to do when one has not put one's rear end on the line, worn his/her country's uniform, seen combat, and in many cases shed blood for that beloved country. Veterans have put their money where their mouth is, and they get so short-changed when they come home!!! You deserve so incredibly much more than that.

Seems to me the best way to honor our veterans is not to keep making more of them.

These are GREAT, Rex!

Love 'em! Love her! Still!

Maybe my fave:
• I believe in recovery, and I believe that as a role model I have the responsibility to let young people know that you can make a mistake and come back from it.

Dayum...

Another great one! The more of these we see and share, the better-informed at least those in our spheres of influence will be.
