Well, maybe we should start making noise about this.

SCOTUS is the only branch of our government NOT to have some sort of code of ethics. That’s gonna be one of our asks this weekend.

I’m mentioning Clarence (“the Crook”) Thomas, Samuel Alito, and just now found another one involving Amy Coney Barrett. AND I was noticing this outfit called the Religious Liberty Initiative that appears to figure into some sweetheart deals with both Alito AND Barrett - in separate involvements.

Am I crazy because I think I’m noticing a fishy smell?

I'll post the ask I just wrote up, for distribution early next week:

Oh good!

Thanks for the update!

Our cats are indoor cats whether they like it or not. But we have a coyote or two in the neighborhood and they can just stick to our closed-in deck. They don’t seem to mind it, and I don’t have to worry about it.

This.

Definitely this.

Especially since we can drive to several local graveyards, breathing comfortably all the way.

Works for me!

They can angrily slam Chris Christie as a tool. What they don’t get is - he’s OUR tool!

June 23, 2023

I like him!

He's one of my honorary representatives, even though I don't live in his district. I'm keeping Ted Lieu, too, and I used to live in his district. Now, unfortunately, we went from a "conserva-Dem" to a sneaky, dishonest, two-faced flat-out Republican up here where we live now. These days she seems to be into mixing up her voting record a little more, probably to throw us off. No way she's "seen the light" on a few issues. She's as cold and calculating and wrong-headed as ever, but I suspect she thinks she can fool some of us enough to drop our guard by Election Day.

...on second thought, watching Peter Thiel's project sink beneath the waves might be most intriguing

to watch - even if my taxes have to help pay for it. But only as long as he goes down with it.

I noted that quote when I saw the news clip of him saying that.

He was ready and willing to break the rules for the sake of success, and he was pretty cocky about it. He said so with bravado. Unfortunately for his four fellow casualties, it looks like the rules finally broke him.

Just reminded me of Leona Helmsley and her arrogant statement that "only the little people pay taxes." Well, she was certainly taught a lesson!

Yes indeed.

That's always my first question. And if they waffle, or they actually indicate an opposition to a woman's right to choose, then I'm outta here. I don't need to hear anything more. Besides, from my experience as a longtime observer of the sides politicians take, if they're anti-choice, I've learned they're more likely to oppose other issues I support, and to support other positions I'm against. The choice issue is often quite the leading indicator.

June 22, 2023

That's not a bad idea!

He’s got a lot of fans and supporters. I bet that would be a popular souvenir!

June 22, 2023

He's always figured out how to weasel out of trouble - til now.

This time maybe? I know we’ve all said that to each other through the years of dealing with him. But perhaps he’s up against too much by now? We’re only at two indictments so far, and there are at least two more expected in the next year or so. SOMETHING’S gotta give at some point. Law of averages and all that.

I keep reminding myself that NOTHING lasts forever. And hoping that’s true here.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
