Welcome to DU, ClarkeVII!

Glad you're here! I get a LOT of my news from DU - many times I see it here on my computer screen before the news reaches the TV screen. Most of us are addicted to this place in one way or other! You can learn a TON! This isn't just a website or any ol' discussion board. It's a think tank!

Kicked, Recommended, and Bookmarked!

Those here who say you should make this into a letter to the editor or a letter to the White House, or put it somewhere else on the record, are correct. You should. Make sure whoever represents you in the state legislature and in Congress get it, too. This anecdotal evidence is worth its weight in gold-pressed latinum!

So glad to hear this, btw, Lyric! So delighted to hear this! GREAT news!!!

Yeah, no kidding! No freakin' KIDDING!

Maybe deep down that's one of the reasons the haters hate him so much. DAYUM does he make his predecessor look bad! He makes dubya look like the steaming pile of crap we all long ago recognized him to be. They'll stay in denial about it, though. AWFULLY hard to admit you were wrong. Some former congressman on "Hardball" yesterday, I think it was, admitted he'd voted wrongly on the Iraq War and he and Chris Matthews both agreed that a President who starts seeing the input coming to him that says his decision was wrong - would at least stop and reassess, if not change the policy. And it's VERY instructive about the kind of person dubya is - that, to this day, he flat-out REFUSES to admit he was wrong. That he made a wrong decision. That invading Iraq was the wrong thing to do. Won't do it. Can't do it. Can't afford to bring himself to admit he was wrong. Has to insist the world is flat. Because he's not man enough to admit he was wrong.

Well, you know it, and I know it, and everybody on this board knows it. And more beyond that know it. But he and his - will NEVER admit they were wrong. It's hard to do. It's pretty damn courageous and ballsy, and mature, and adult, and grounded in reality, to admit you were wrong. And he can't do it. So that should be very instructive as to who - and what - he really is.

White House Press Corpse is a far more accurate label.

I'm a retired reporter. What passes for coverage now is just an absolute disgrace. I used to be proud of my profession. Now I'm ashamed of it.

THIS^^^!

NOBODY who hates government should be given a chance to get into it. Because they'll actually try to destroy it.

Yeah. No kidding.

Knowing some of these nutcases, deterrence isn't it. They don't care. If they're religious extremists, they're not GONNA care. It just means they think that will force the Hand of God and make Jesus come back, or hasten the Apocalypse as they think it's gonna be, or ensure their arrival at some sort of Valhalla in the sky with milk and honey and dozens of eagerly-waiting virgins or whatever-the-hell. Now, if you thought THAT was what was behind the ultimate "Door Number 3," why hesitate?

That's what worries me most. The dingdongs with their "closely held 'beliefs'" who are just sure their actions can force the Hand, and the Divine Schedule, of God.

I just really love her poem. And maybe I feel that way even more intensely

because those words smack the teabaggers and other racists and jingoists on the Dark Side straight in the face. Those words as much as stick a fire hose up their collective asses and give 'em a political enema with the force of Old Faithful. Too bad it doesn't clean out their vile, infected, racist, sexist, Troglodyte mindset, too.

For that reason, I would LOVE to see Emma Lazarus on a coin or a denomination of paper money. Just for the "so THERE" effect!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
