About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Moved? Or Removed?

OUTSTANDING quote!

Sorry you have to deal with that, Norbert.

Nothing but Biden signs around my neighborhood, which is encouraging and quite reaffirming. I wish you had that, too.

Sorry about the double post.

But then again, a double welcome!

Welcome to DU, Le Roi de Pot!

Barack Obama, prodigy. A bright light even back then.

Gee, how come the republi-CON presidents are all the ones with All the indictments? Gee...

Aren’t they the ones who usually yowl about law ‘n’ order?

And then THEY’RE the ones with all the law-breakers.

How ‘bout that.

I'd worry about the birds.

Damn mean-spirited gunners.

I had an urge to go out around the side of the house and pull some weeds.

Literally! I started on it last week, a neighbor helped me do more a few hours ago, and then while it was still daylight, I went out and cleaned away a little more. ALMOST done! Wish I could say the same of this CON CON. I guess I missed Nikki Haley - but I'm sure they'll run a clip during the post-game show.

Just have it on in the background but not paying much attention.

Listening with more interest to the analysis - Rachel, Nicolle, and Joy. Glad they're fact-checking!

SHEESH... this is interminable. Just trudges on and on - or yawn and yawn! WHEN does it end?

I guess I missed Nikki Haley. Got in a mood to finish pulling weeds while there was still some daylight. A neighbor and I cleaned out a potential bed for ferns and maybe another tree, but MAN was it overgrown! Also just about to go to seed! Glad to have that taken care of.

But seriously. When are they wrapping this up for the night?

My mom used to make centerpieces - with local pine cones and seed pods - and definitely

milkweed pods. She'd take linoleum paste and a flat board of whatever length and width she'd decided, attach felt to the underside and maybe some trim all around the edges, and then start gluing pieces onto it. Nuts, acorns, pine cones from multiple kinds of trees, pods of whatever there was (yep, milkweed!), you name it! And she'd make a space at one end, or in the middle (or wherever, depending on the shape of the base board) to add a nice candle - like maybe three inches in diameter. She'd spray paint the whole thing white. Semi-gloss. Several coats, so it was very thick and well-covered, and then the candle would always be red. The painting part usually took longest while each coat dried.

And BOOM! Christmas presents! Really nice for a big buffet table during the holidays. Sometimes she'd add so many coats of white paint that it started to look like it was white china or porcelain. Really nice. Sometimes she'd add little sprigs of evergreens for a nice contrast. Obviously this was a project she'd start during the late summer/early fall.

I still make stuff like this, and it makes a great gift. Everybody likes something homemade. And you know they won't have anything else like it!
