calimary's JournalWelcome to DU, Clyde Tenson!
Glad you're here! Well, THIS woman is Catholic, and about as pro-choice as it's possible for one human to be. They can be whatever religion they want to be, but this is not a theocracy, much as they try to forget. And I am not interested in some sort of Catholic or "Judeo-Christian" Sharia law being imposed, especially by a bunch of old men. They neither speak for me nor represent me.
And VOTE!!!!!
Get your ass to the polls in November! If you don't, we all have YOU to blame, you know.
And the corollary to that, boston bean, is - I hope that those who might have been
on the fence about VOTING this fall - as in
"Meh, both parties the same."
"There's no difference between the parties..."
"They're all corporate so what's the point..."
"They're all the same..."
"Makes no difference... both sides-both sides-both sides (BRAAAAKKKK! Polly Wanna Cracker!!! AWWWWWKKKK!!!)"
If yesterday and today were not enough evidence for you, I don't know what to tell you.
So am I!
Hey, limbaugh you peabrain, let's see what we call you now...
Can't even get the name of our party correct, much less this website? If somebody wants the "Democrat Underground," there ISN'T one. There's no such thing. So maybe we should start referring to rush limb. Or rush limbaughtic? How 'bout WE give HIM a new name, 'eh?
They're totally correct to be leery about it.
Very few even among our side view the enemy as the relentless, resourceful, sneaky-ass operatives they are. Do you think for one instant that their side will accept the purported "narrowness" of this ruling? Do you think for a single nanosecond that they'll let it rest there? Why of course! The very same way they "accepted" that Roe v Wade was settled law! How'd that work out for everybody?
Fuck it. I think it's a fight worth picking.
Especially if we can get some publicity. Occupy started a new conversation - that has been widely and publicly credited with having an impact and moving the whole idea of income inequality farther to the front. Why not this, too?
Hey, THIS is a fight we oughta start!
Okay, fine, Mr. & Mrs. America! Game ON! Funding the military-industrial complex so we can go out and kill masses of people in other countries for the sake of the oil barons - is against my religion! I want an exemption! Seriously!
How 'bout not just fighting fire with fire - let's hijack THEIR fire and fight with THAT!
Nice post, William769!
Thank you. But I find myself becoming more concerned about YOUR rights.
I look at what's been done to Roe v Wade, and I'm sorry to say this, but the bad guys WILL be coming for the rights YOUR side just won. Protect marriage equality - as though your very life depended on it! Fight like hell to protect the ground you've gained! Because they WILL be coming to take those rights away from you. They don't believe in it, they don't agree with it, and they're hellbent on making sure THEY rule YOUR life, too. That's how they feel about us women and the views THEY wish to impose on all the rest of us. Roe v Wade is on the ropes now because they will NOT give up and they sure as hell don't accept the idea that this was settled back in the 70s. WE'RE still fighting it, and astoundingly, losing ground EVERY DAY. If the LGBT community doesn't go damn near thermonuclear to protect your rights that have been hard-fought and hard-won, there are forces all over the country that are determined to roll those rights back and take them away from you. The instant you let down your guard or assume that just because you happen to be winning at the moment, that's how it's always gonna be.
Learn from the misfortune of us on the pro-choice side. We're almost totally fucked at this point. PLEASE!!! Don't let that happen to YOU!!!!!!
So when can we start aiming at that Viagra coverage?
Why does that get through and contraception doesn't?
WHY? And why can't we start getting active about that?
