Interesting parallel: today in continuing education, we had a lecture about provider burnout. I actually met few of the diagnostic criteria for burnout, but prominent among them was alcohol abuse (as opposed to alcohol dependence) Periodic binges, things like that.

Physical and emotional exhaustion were two of the others.

But I'm happy to say I haven't lost my enthusiasm for what I do, or my love for my patients. If those things were to happen, I would truly be burned out...

I'm sorry for being needy. My patients need a rock...

I'm just so tired...
