It's good to have him back. The Bard has been getting rusticated out in Stratford. He needs some modern society.
How's everybody doing tonight?
Friday Night Wine-Buzz. Too late for any real interaction tonight.
Any night-owls still up?
Remember, Remember, 2000, November.
Vote.
Get out and vote.
Nothing is certain.
Nothing is guaranteed.
The people who want Trump to be President will do anything to ensure that it happens. They will riot. They will scream. They will threaten.
But they won't have to do anything of those things if you just stay home.
If your favored candidate didn't get the nod, and you don't want to vote for the lesser of two evils, vote the the lesser of two goods; the candidate who was chosen over your favorite.
If you think 'I survived Bush; I can survive Trump', just remember: a lot of people didn't survive Bush. Not on 9/11, not in the US Armed Forces, not in Iraq, not in Afghanistan, and not the economic crash of 2008. Stop thinking of yourself, and think of others.
Vote.

Friday Night Wine-Buzz. Threw another abusive asshole out of my clinic today.
I was at lunch in my office. A few of the staff always have to stay at the desk in the bullpen during lunch to help in inquiries, etc. Some guy (not my patient) walks in and starts bellyaching about how he isn't able to get his medication refilled. Just an asshole from the word 'go'. I listen to him bitch for a while, and then he says: "If I don't get my refill, I'm gonna go ballistic!" Well, nowadays, that's not something to be taken lightly.
But lightly or not, you don't issue threats in my clinic without going out on your ass. I marched out of my office and told him straight out to beat it. He rolled his eyes and ignored me. I shook my head, got the nurse supervisor, a big guy who takes shit from exactly zero people, and threw his ass out.
A patient can yell and scream at me all he/she likes. You yell at the staff, or issue threats, and you're gone...
Anyway, buzzing the stress of the day away...
I'm sweating out my preparation to recertify for my medical license.
Currently taking an exam prep course. Just took a practice exam. Got 72%. Not bad, but got to keep studying.
What they say about never changing an answer once you've put it down is true. I got four questions wrong simply because I didn't stick with my initial instinct.
OTOH, six years of clinical practice give me the knowledge to breeze through a number of the questions.
For anyone interested, I'll keep you posted...
Friday night wine-buzz. Mourning and celebrating...
Mourning the loss of Prince. What a strange, astonishing, puzzling gift he was...
Celebrating the possibility of a new start in clinic. The Powers That Be seem to have taken note of the many factors contributing to my burn-out, and have taken steps to rectify the situation. I see more patients than anyone else at the clinic; certainly more than the MD's see. Physician Assistant Power! And I'm at 97% of my productivity goals. So they have decided to grant me a third assistant to help ease the workload. It has already begun...
I stopped by the clinic today just to see how everything was going, and my in-box was empty! One of my intrepid assistants will be handling the bs from now on. Saving me days that start too early, and end too late... Thank God; I haven't slept in about six years...
I'm so buzzed I can scarcely see straight, so I'll take the opportunity to tell you: I love you all...
William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day: In memoriam, Prince Rogers Nelson.
"Good night,
sweet prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
Hamlet, Act V, Scene 2, Lines 358-360.
Feeling bored and depressed. Anyone care to try and cheer me up?
Or just talk?
I did about three hours of paperwork at the clinic today (on my vacation; I've gone crazy, but it's the only way to get the pile of papers down a little without interruption), and received no notifications of any patient deaths. So that's good. It was pretty awful a few months ago.
Anyway, I could use some company...
If it helps, I'm sober...
The Prince is dead! Long Live The Prince!
Unbelievable. He wasn't even allowed to live into his late 60's, like David Bowie.
My favorite songs of his were not among his more popular. I like "Paisley Park" from Around The World In A Day best of all...
