Just got the word from the hospital: lost a patient to complications of alcoholism.

I hadn't seen him in over a year, but before that, he was a regular. He'd been through our de-tox and alcohol abuse treatment programs several times, and it never took.

He was supposed to start another round of treatment today.

I remember him as a pleasant guy who just couldn't climb out of the bottle.

I hope he's at peace now...

Man, I'm so angry I could spit fire!

For the second time in about four months, my clinic manager has dropped the ball on my vacation requests. Twice I've put in for two weeks, and twice now he's dragged his feet so long that by the time he blocks out the Paid Time Off calendar, 'needs of the clinic' make it difficult for me to get more than one week off.

He just e-mailed me telling me I only get one week at the beginning of November, and the other will have to be some other time.

I'm not happy...

I'm thinking of doing a sick-out and seeing how he manages provider schedules then.

I haven't had more than two weeks off in a row since 2012. I've got more than 200 hours vacation time saved up, and I can't catch a break.

I'll tell you, sometimes, being the go-to guy sucks...
