Just appalling that Warnock is only 2 points ahead of Walker in polls

I think the margin of victory will be more than 2% over the 50% marker, but even so, can you imagine running into 100 random people and having 45-48 of them explain why Herschel Walker should be one of their two voices legislators in (what used to be) world's greatest debating society?

Do they think that workers are paid too much?
That insulin prices are too low?
That billionaires are overtaxed and need a break?

Warnock holds narrow lead over Walker in Georgia runoff: poll

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) holds a narrow 2 percentage point lead over Republican rival Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate runoff, according to a new survey from Emerson College Polling and The Hill.

The poll released on Thursday found that 49 percent of very likely voters surveyed said they would back Warnock, compared to 47 percent who said they would vote for Walker. A separate 4 percent said they were undecided; that polling falls within the margin of error, effectively tying the two candidates.

I just finished watching Game of Thrones for the 1st time.

People who say the showrunners botched the ending are just dead wrong. The ending is perfect. Maybe they wanted a sentimental ending, a "the good guys win in the end" ending. If so, they weren't paying attention to the show. I know a lot of people complained that Danerys's face-heel turn in the final few episodes was a betrayal of her character. They weren't paying attention to the cost of the war to the Khaleesi's soul. The signs were there from season 5 on. This ending was perfect. The atrocities she committed, the mindless brutality of the Dothraki and the Unsullied and even the virtuous Army of the North against the innocent civilians of King's Landing, these are all a natural part of war. I've studied enough war as a history teacher to tell you: this is what war does to soldiers. This is how war is, even in our own Geneva Convention world. The hateful rape and murder and plunder and post surrender destruction of civilization--this is what war does. It was ugly and perfect.

The Scorpion and the Frog: US Corp's Gave Over $8m to Election Deniers

The Guardian:
US corporations gave more than $8m to election deniers’ midterm campaigns

Some of the best-known corporations in the US, including AT&T, Boeing, Delta Air Lines and the Home Depot, collectively poured more than $8m into supporting election deniers running for US House and Senate seats in this month’s midterm elections.

A study by the non-partisan government watchdog organization Accountable.US, based on the latest filings to the Federal Election Commission, reveals the extent to which big corporations were prepared to back Republican nominees despite their open peddling of false claims undermining confidence in democracy. Though many were ultimately unsuccessful in their election bids, the candidates included several prominent advocates of Donald Trump’s lie that the 2020 presidential election had been stolen from him.

At the top of the list of 20 corporations backing election deniers through their political action committees (Pacs) is a familiar name in the world of rightwing agitating – Koch Industries. According to the Accountable.US review, the Koch energy conglomerate spent $771,000 through its Pac on Republican candidates with a track record of casting doubt on elections.

Why does our democracy keep on helping these scorpions? We need to get the money out of politics. They profit by manipulating us, even though they'd profit more by letting the middle class prosper.

It's too early, but... DeSantis has commanding lead over Trump in early primaries

https://posteritypac.org/2024-presidential-republican-primary-poll/

It's too early to mean anything, maybe, and Trump hasn't started really sharpening his meow claws on DeSantis yet, but the Florida quarter fascist leads the Russian puppet by 25 points in Iowa, 28 points in New Hampshire, and 12 points in Nevada.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is the indisputable favorite to become the Republican nominee for President in 2024. Across the first three Republican caucus and primary states (Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada), DeSantis leads Trump by 20% points overall. In New Hampshire, support for Governor DeSantis is nearly double that of former President Trump.

“After the decidedly lackluster performance of Republicans in the 2022 mid-term elections, it’s clear that the country is looking for fresh leadership and Governor DeSantis seems to be an obvious frontrunner.” said Emily Burns, member of the Board of Directors for Posterity PAC.

The poll was conducted for Posterity PAC on November 13-14 over mobile phone, targeting registered Republican voters in the states of Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada – the three crucial states which might very well decide the course of the 2024 Presidential Republican election.

Remember, there's a special "Republicans-only extension voting day" on Wednesday this year.

The lines will be shorter and they're serving coffee cake.

Pass it on.
