Video activist James O'Keefe hurls charges -- but no video -- at Oregon Bus Project

http://www.oregonlive.com/mapes/index.ssf/2012/04/video_activist_james_okeefe_hu.html

James O'Keefe, the conservative activist who has gained national publicity with his controversial ambush videos, made some pretty provocative charges in an appearance before the Oregon Tea Party this weekend -- but he didn't back it up with any actual video.

O'Keefe said he went undercover on a trip with the Portland-based Bus Project – a group that has worked with several Democratic politicians and that encourages young people to get involved in politics – and found "potential drug abuse" and underage drinking. And he made an apparent reference to Gov. John Kitzhaber by saying the "former governor or current governor [was] involved in it."

The charges angered and mystified officials with the Bus Project, who said they are scrupulous about not serving alcohol to minors. And they questioned why O'Keefe is making the charges so long after taking a two-day trip with the Bus Project back in July of 2010.

"I have no reason to believe his two-years-after-the-fact allegations," said Caitlin Baggott, the Bus Project's executive director. </snip>

Unmitigated disaster of a former Vice-President calls President Obama "unmitigated disaster"

If I am a suitable organ donor when I tip over, I want to stipulate that Dick Cheney or anyone else who is related in any way to the modern Republican party can't have any of mine.

<snip>

Exactly three weeks after a heart transplant, former Vice President Dick Cheney delivered a a one-hour-and-fifteen minute political speech Saturday -- and excoriated President Obama.

"He has been an unmitigated disaster to the country," Cheney told the Wyoming Republican Party state convention in Cheyenne, adding that GOP challenger Mitt Romney will do "a whale of a job."

Daughter Liz Cheney appeared with her father, who joked about his health.

"I'm not running any foot races yet but it won't be long," the ex-vice president said.

Idaho's lone black lawmaker receives KKK mailing

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's only black lawmaker said she received a direct mailing from the Ku Klux Klan that has bolstered her resolve to fight prejudice.

Childhood memories of a cross burning on her lawn on Boise's north end were rekindled for Rep. Cherie Buckner-Webb, D-Boise, when she opened a hand-addressed application last week to join the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

"It conjured up a lot of things for me that weren't very comfortable — not fear, but sometimes we get to thinking things are settled," she said.

The mailing solicited a photo, $35 in annual dues and asked for a completed statement proclaiming: "I am a White Christian man or woman," The Idaho Statesman reported.

Sntr Grssly nt stsfd wth FCC wil keep hld on stupd noms

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has no plans to lift his hold on President Obama's two nominees to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) despite receiving a trove of the agency's documents, a spokeswoman for the senator said Monday.

Grassley said he would block the nominees, Ajit Pai and Jessica Rosenworcel, until the agency provided him with records related to its review of wireless startup LightSquared.

FCC officials said they declined to cooperate with Grassley's probe because he does not serve on a committee with jurisdiction over the agency.

Loners are awesome.

We are loners for a good reason: We're tired of being fucked over by other people who want to take advantage of us.

Leave me the fuck alone. And in return, I won't fuck with you.

What's wrong with that?

For the record, I'm married to another loner. We've been together for thirty years. We've worked things out.

I love my loner. It works, with the right loner.

My brother just died of brain cancer.

Well, okay, he died five days ago. With me and my wife.

I haven't been able to post about anything since about two or three weeks ago. He wanted to die at home. We honored his request.

We have his funeral planned for next Saturday. Shit. He's my little brother. He's only 50.

Dammit. Brain cancer. Go away.

I'm blown away. He died on my birthday. And his daughter's birthday. Right in front of me.

I need to deliver his eulogy.

Aside from Ted Kennedy, can anyone help with meaningful eulogy stuff? I'll figure it all out. Brother to brother stuff.

Peace and love,

Steve
