Atticus
Atticus's JournalKnowing "they" won't understand this question, is it the goal of the Trump party to
trigger a return to the "Dark Ages"?
Is the wholesale rejection of science and the devaluation of truths and facts just "lubrication" for their end game?
Who would profit?
So, in order to commemorate---geez, that's a lot of Ms---commemorate? Ameliorate? Celebrate,
that's it---4/2o, I thought-----WHY IS THE "o" SO CLOSE TO THE "0"?
So,---------oh, yeah----celebrate. Little Debbie is your friend-----and so is "right click", by the by. It opens up a lot of secret stuff.
Shhhhh! Is it okay I said that? I'm just kinda-----
Anyway-----enjoy!
Just curious---how many have read a post or watched a video on DU, thought it was good enough
to pass on and then did so by text, tweet, email or reposting on another board?
Multiple states have recently passed laws to permit parents of school children not to simply
monitor what is being taught in the classrooms, but to CONTROL what is being taught and HOW it is being taught, all in the name of "allowing" parents to be "involved" with their local schools.
Perhaps I have led a sheltered life, but I have never known of a school district that did anything but strongly encourage parent to get "involved" with their child's learning experience. I have, therefore, come to the conclusion that parental involvement is not the purpose of this flurry of legislation.
They want control. They want to give high school dropouts who don't even live in the district the legal authority to force teachers to tell kids racism does not exist, homosexuality is a sin against God and global climate change---like covid---is a liberal hoax.
People who could not be bothered to attend PTA meetings now find time to scream obscenities at school board meetings and threaten board members with execution if they even mention a long list of "woke" words.
Is it any wonder why experienced teachers are leaving their profession?
For those who will vote in November but are "too busy to keep up with all that political crap", here
is what you are voting for if you vote Republican.
According to their own "11 point plan", they intend to:
---raise taxes on over 100 million Americans;
---end Social Security and Medicare in five years;
---enable more religious participation in government.
That's just a few examples, folks, but hey---if those aren't enough to curl your hair, you will love the rest of their plans. Just practice that stiff-arm salute and you'll fit right in.
"A hard rain's a-gonna fall!"---Robert Allen Zimmerman, aka "Bob Dylan".
It's coming, Trumpies. You can look the other way and pretend you're going to stay high and dry, but that "hard rain" IS "a-gonna fall" and most everyone closely associated with Trump is going to be washed away.
Good always eventually prevails over evil.
Kindness and love always eventually conquer cruelty and hatred.
"---the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice."---Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I believe that.
Could we maybe just all look up "heckler's veto"? Thanks. nt
Just FYI, the federal "judge" who just invalidated President Biden's transportation mask
mandate was just ONE of the Trump appointees who was rated "unqualified" by the American Bar Association when he nominated her.
This twit is a 33 year old who cancelled the scheduled oral arguments and preemptorily ruled the mandate exceeded the President's authority and opted to make the decision effective immediately nationwide. Without going into detail, let me just say that the "reasoning" she set forth in her written opinion is embarrassingly disingenuous and---no other word for it--- stupid.
This is the type of shit we get when some forget that "elections have consequences" and "every vote counts".
I am all out of "nice" with these fascist assholes.
Another example of how the Trumplicans depend on the IGNORANCE of the American public:
They are now trying to sell the notion that the overwhelming majority of those poor "patriots" who stormed the Capitol on January 6th were " political neophytes" who "did not realize that what they were doing was wrong".
Read those quotes again.
Despite the fact that it has been proven that MANY of the "J6 patriots" were members of or associated with extremist rightwing groups, let's assume that many were in fact "political neophytes" who had never before participated in a group action to protest something. HOW PATHETICALLY STUPID DOES ONE HAVE TO BE in order to "not know" that forcibly breaching several rings of police barricades, assaulting uniformed police officers with all sorts of weapons and chemicals, breaking out windows and forcing locked doors open and then entering and vandalizing the Capitol of the United Ststes of America was WRONG?
Is it time to start shouting down people so despicably twisted that they would say this crap in public?
What about OUR freedom of speech?
Are there not times when honest people must choose whether they will be
optimistic or realistic?
Can optimism be an excuse for doing nothing since " Everything will work out ok. It always does" ?
Pessimism is not the only alternative to optimism. Both can be used to excuse inaction; one because "everything's ok" and one because "there's no use".
