This ain't "rocket surgery", folks!

Those commercials urging us to use more fossil fuels? Paid for by the fossil fuel industry.

The ads decrying regulation of the internet? Paid for by internet billionaires.

The scary TV blurbs about how government price limits on drugs may kill you? Paid for by Big Pharma.

DU-U-U-H!!!

"How to deal with bullies", according to my Dad:

1.) If possible, avoid and ignore them.
2.) If confronted, walk away.
3.) If struck, turn the other cheek---ONCE.
4.) If turning your cheek doesn't work and they attempt to do you harm, do whatever is necessary to put them on the ground.
5.) Make sure that, even if they are able to get up, they won't dare.

Confused about "Christian Nationalists"? Let me help:

they wear crosses instead of swastikas, but they're still nazis.

Some are born to lead. Some are born to follow. Apparently,

Mike Pence was born to kiss ass.

You cannot claim intelligence; you have to be a chump

If after all that's been revealed you still would vote for Trump.

He's not some "unknown quantity" we've not yet figured out
He's an evil arrogant phony that we now know all about

And, so we can't excuse you when wear that silly cap
It's time you paid the price for having listened to his crap

We do not want to talk with you; we will not shake your hand
You've stepped across so many lines that we drew in the sand

No need to try to 'splain yourself; no need to make a fuss
You're just where we predicted: in the crowd beneath Trump's bus.

re: pharmacists refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control pills or devices---

Would if be possible for a state to REQUIRE that pharmacists fill ALL prescriptions as a condition of their professional licences bring issued or renewed with suspension and then revocation being imposed for refusals?

"DEMOCRATS DID THAT!"

Maybe we need a list of succinctly stated accomplishments since our party was chosen in the last election with each followed by the above ALL CAPS exclamation.

The infrastructure bill (that Republicans promised for four years!)--- DEMOCRATS DID THAT!

Quickly making free covid vaccinations available everywhere in the nation---- DEMOCRATS DID THAT!

Leading and coordinating the NATO nations' response to Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine---DEMOCRATS DID THAT!

Enacting the first serious gun control law in decades--- DEMOCRATS DID THAT!

There's a lot more to communicate to voters, but that's a start. Isn't it time to toot our own horn?

As Dizzy Dean once observed (paraphrased): "It ain't braggin' if ya did it!"

I am frankly disappointed in those who thought Pottinger's remarks last night were laudable.

Yes, like Ms Mathews, he did reveal some of the grimy and disgusting---treasonous---details of what Trump did and said to facilitate the insurrection. But, he also went on at some length about "the good things that he accomplished" and smiled with pride that he had been a part of that.

"Gag me with a spoon!"

Suddenly, "out of the blue" on January 6th, you discovered that "OMG! I've been working for a monster!" ?

I AM glad that he and others are FINALLY saying what they're saying, but those who try to paint themselves red, white and blue after actively supporting and assisting Putin's pick for years make my lip curl and raise the hairs on the back of my neck!

That's what I think.

Is it just me? Is it just that I am an old cantankerous codger?

It is no secret that the folks who make TV commercials want their ads to be memorable. "Back in the day", this was achieved by being extremely creative or clever or cute or novel. Nowadays, the most "memorable" commercials are either the most disgusting or mindlessly irritating.

And, the irritation is amplified by the fact that these offensive ads seem to be repeated endlessly.

I wonder if any others vow to never buy their insurance or their deodorizer or their---whatever---BECAUSE of their commercials.

Just a coincidence? The same people now saying the J6 Committee investigation is a

"partisan witchhunt" called the Covid pandemic a "hoax" and carried a snowball onto the Senate floor while terming global climate change just "liberal nonsense".

But for the incredible passivity and stupidity of their base, they'd be spat at or laughed out of serious politics.
