through six dozen years spread across nine decades, I am increasingly inclined to take ol' Hank's advice.
Each day, my world is filled with small simple pleasures that I rushed past for too many years. I now take the time to savor them and be thankful for them.
I just came in from digging and chopping around a stump beside our drive that, hopefully, will be pulled out tomorrow. I surrendered to a 104 degree heat index before it hits its peak in a couple hours. "Hot" would be an understatement, but I felt fortunate to be able to still get outside, work up a sweat, get my hands dirty and do something useful.
What small simple pleasures did I savor? The shade of a maple, a cooling breeze, yellow Brown-Eyed Susans nodding from the meadow, the incomparable taste of a just-picked sun-warmed tomato. Now that I'm inside, I am very thankful for our air conditioning and a tall glass of iced tea.
Of such small gifts, good days are made.

I don't think full FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine will persuade more than a few of the
unvaccinated to roll up their sleeves.
It is not as though they will suddenly lose the only reason they had for not getting vaccinated. Most will simply be losing the EXCUSE that kinda sorta maybe sounded like a reason. They are even now deciding what will be their new "reason" for avoiding the shot.
Many, if they were honest, (I know, I know!) would admit that they won't get vaccinated because that might be seen as "helping Joe Biden" by reducing the pandemic toll on his watch.

Alabama last night, but I have seen and heard several clips from it. I have a question for anyone who still supports Trump or who thinks it even possible they might vote for him again.
Can you watch his erratic gestures and listen to him babble---about taking foreign policy advice from a five year old, for example---and, with a straight face, say that he is not seriously--- SERIOUSLY--- mentally ill, deranged, or unhinged?
Would you voluntarily leave your 12 year old daughter in his care?
Your puppy?
