Then, you switch to snotty indignation if anyone mentions---you know---that thing you "never said"--- and you insult them, call them names and loudly insist that they are "anti-you". Finally, hire people to accuse your accusers---still with me?--- of something really nasty and dishonest. Repeat this nasty accusation any time you are asked about---you know.

Voila! You know that thing that you said that you wish you hadn't said? You never said it! It has been "erased" from public discussion!

I'm about to say something which, for all you know, could be a lie---but it is not.

I was not alone by any stretch of the imagination but, four years ago, I damn well KNEW---not thought or believed or suspected, KNEW---that Donald Trump was by far the worst candidate for POTUS that had ever been nominated. He was a candidate for whom the term "surreal" was totally accurate; I actually had trouble believing that the electoral college outcome was "for real".

I have said the above not to brag about how smart those of us who KNEW about Trump were, but to ask the question that has nagged at me since 2016: why in hell did our highly educated smart-as-a-whip "journalists" NOT know what we knew or, if they knew, why did they not use that knowledge to protect THEIR COUNTRY from the monster now endangering everything and everyone we love and value?

The only answers to that question I can imagine leave me at once furious and nauseous.

Could he just---in a fit of whining denial---decide to "show" us that he can "take his ball and go home", i.e., announce his resignation from Mar-A-Lago?

Could enough Republicans effectively threaten Mother---and others--- that she'd damn well better get Mikey to support a 25th Amendment removal "for the good of the party"?

Could Trump "go along with" some medical justification for either a "sad, reluctant" resignation or an "unfortunate but understandable" 25th Amendment action, either of which would avoid the humiliation of him getting his ass royally kicked on election day?

Is there nothing so sick, so disgusting, so transparently unhinged that Trump could do or say

that the smarmy Republican enablers will not cheerfully excuse or endorse it?
