Trump lies and before you know it, you're drinking bleach, sticking a lightbulb up your ass and usin

Margaret, I know you didn’t watch the shit show this week, so I did. We pride ourselves on being informed so I suffered through it for the both of us. Here is what you missed:

Night One: Land of Heroes – Evidently most heroes are white and scream a lot.
Night Two: Land of Promise – The GOP promises that if you vote for Donald, you will never, ever have a black person as a next door neighbor. Plus! Melania promises that the guy who left his first two wives and then cheated on her will never, ever lie to you.
Night Three: Land of Opportunity – Given the opportunity, Mike and Karen Pence would probably tell me to my face that they are more Christian than I. Pence gives an amazing speech while simultaneously crawling up Trump’s ass. Also, Donald Trump really didn’t hug his kids enough… if at all.
Night Four: Land of Great Asshats – Ben Carson put a cup of coffee to sleep. In the land of greatness if you stay out past curfew, some white guy also out past curfew gets to shoot you. It’s in the constitution. Oh and, Trump lied.
Basically, the theme of the week is that only Donald Trump can save us from the mess that Donald Trump made. However, it had an interesting subplot where some bitch YELLED LIKE A MOTHER FUCKER at us right before her high-as-a-kite boyfriend and his brother begged the business man who raised them to please love them.

I lost a friend last night.

He passed away at about 11:30 PM. We don't know for certain that it was COVID-19, but we believe it was. He had a severe cold earlier in the year, and never fully recovered. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night as multiple organs were failing. He seemed to have stabilized on dialysis and was scheduled to have a liver transplant today, but had trouble breathing yesterday so he was intubated and put on a ventilator. By then it was too late. Jim leaves behind a sister, ex wife and daughter, a girlfriend and many friends. We will miss his good humor.

RIP. Jim

Just heard from an old friend..

We worked together for about 10 years. We got along great, even though he listened to Rush Limp Paw every day. Today he wrote, "Trump has made me a yellow dog Democrat." There is hope. BTW, he now lives in ME. I'll try to convince him to vote for Sara.

The Dark Side of Being a Female Shark Researcher

I was 21 years old when I encountered the place where sharks and television intersect. It was my first research internship, working with a famous shark scientist I had long admired but only just met. My second week, I was on a boat with a film crew, chumming for sharks in the background while the senior scientist dispensed expertise in the foreground. At one point, the film crew suggested I sit next to my hero on camera and repeat the prompt: “So, [Dr. Hero], why did you become a shark scientist?”

For the beautiful green-eyed assistants, of course,” he replied, gesturing at me. I froze, silent, a nervous half-smile on my face.

Don’t worry,” a member of the film crew assured me afterward. “We won’t use it.” I felt a wash of relief and gratitude. It was years before I thought to wonder why I’d felt I was the one who would have looked bad if they had.

This isn’t the worst experience I’ve had as a woman in shark science, or even in the top 10. It barely makes my list at all. I remember it mainly for how small and ashamed it made me feel in the first moments of my career as a scientist; for the way his joke told me clearly who I was to him, and how he thought I fit into the story.

The most dangerous person

"The most dangerous person in a democratic society is one who doesn't know, (and it's ok not to know), a person who doesn't know but thinks he does and has the power to affect other people's lives." Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
