Khamenei says Iran strongly opposes US intervention in Iraq

Source: RTE

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed strong opposition to US intervention in Iraq, saying Iraqis themselves were able to bring an end to the violence there, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei, who has the last word on all matters of state, added in remarks to judiciary officials that Washington aimed to keep Iraq under its control and place its own "Yes Men" in power.

The conflict there was not sectarian, but was really between those who wanted Iraq in the US camp and those who sought Iraq's independence, IRNA reported.

Meanwhile Sunni insurgents led by al Qaeda splinter group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), also known as ISIL, captured three towns in Iraq's western Anbar province, witnesses and security sources said.

A military intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said army troops withdrew from Rawa, Ana and Rutba this morning and ISIS moved quickly to completely control these towns.

Rockefeller son dies after his plane crashes

Source: USA Today

PURCHASE, N.Y — A son of the oldest living member of the Rockefeller family died Friday after the small plane he was piloting crashed into a neighborhood near Westchester County Airport.

Richard Rockefeller, 64, of Falmouth, Maine, ate dinner the night before with his father, David Rockefeller, to celebrate the scion's 99th birthday, said family spokesman Fraser Seitel, who confirmed the death.

"It's a terrible tragedy," Seitel said. "The family is in shock. Richard was a wonderful and cherished member of the family. He was an experienced pilot. He was a medical doctor, and it's horribly sad."

The plane, a Piper Meridian single-engine turbo prop registered to Richard Rockefeller, left the White Plains, N.Y., airport about 8 a.m. ET and was reported down within 10 minutes in a residential area less than 3 miles away in Purchase, about 30 miles north of New York, airport operations administrator Peter Scherrer said. The weather at the time of takeoff was foggy and rainy.

Dr Milton Wolf on CNN just now (TP candidate running against Pat Roberts)

Absolute loon. First, he's a 2nd cousin to Obama, and feels he the "Worst President in History". Okay, coming from a TPer, it makes sense he'd say something stupid like that (apparently, he's no Dr of History).

He also said:
-that Obama doesn't appreciate "American Exceptionalism"
-claims that the WH sicced the IRS on him and also tried to get him fired from being a columnist for the Moonie Times
-claims to be a "Sovereign Citizen"
-more "American Exceptionalism" bullshit

He's also known for posting some of his patients' x-rays (he's a radiologist) on his own Facebook page:

http://cjonline.com/news/state/2014-02-22/doctors-x-ray-postings-unsettling

OVERLAND PARK — U.S. Senate candidate Milton Wolf posted a collection of gruesome X-ray images of gunshot fatalities and medical injuries to his Facebook page and participated in online commentary layered with macabre jokes and descriptions of carnage.

Wolf, a Johnson County radiologist anchoring a campaign for the Republican nomination with calls for federal heath care reform, said in an interview the medical images were legally uploaded to public social media sites and other online venues for educational purposes. They also served, he said, to demonstrate evil lurking in the world.

However, Wolf and others viewing these Facebook postings relentlessly poked fun at the dead or wounded. The gunshot victim, Wolf joked online, wasn't going to complain about the awkward positioning of his head for an X-ray. In a separate Facebook comment, Wolf wrote that an X-ray of a man decapitated by gunfire resembled a wounded alien in a “Terminator” film and that the image offered evidence people “find beauty in different things.”

Like I said... an absolute loon...

VA-07 district is carefully crafted to exclude large cities (but includes suburbs)...

Just throwing this out there:

Paging Mr Mandering, Mr G. Mandering.

Did you know that Tony Randall was on Nixon's enemies list?

I was reading about Nixon's Enemies List on Wikipedia this morning and was a bit stunned to see Tony Randall included!

I can understand seeing John Lennon or Jane Fonda on the list, but Tony.Fucking.Randall, of all people? Was Nixon afraid he'd make him clean his bedroom or something?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_list_of_Nixon_political_opponents#Celebrities

Celebrities
Carol Channing, actress
Bill Cosby, comedian
Jane Fonda, actress and political activist
John Lennon, singer and songwriter [7]
Steve McQueen, actor
Joe Namath, former New York Jets Quarterback
Paul Newman, actor
Gregory Peck, actor
Tony Randall, actor
Barbra Streisand, actress and singer
Dick Gregory, comedian

A bit stunned, so I thought I'd share.

On edit: On Tony's Wikipedia page, it says he supported Dems in 1972:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Randall#Activism

Activism
Randall was an advocate for the arts. During the summer of 1980, he served as the celebrity host of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra's concerts in Central Park, New York City.

He was politically liberal. During the U.S. presidential primaries in 1972, he appeared as the featured celebrity at numerous fundraising house-parties for Democratic candidate George McGovern.
