Local tea party group folds in face of IRS scrutiny, no one notices

I've told you about all the far, far-right groups in Kootenai County Idaho. We have the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee for people who think Benito Mussolini was too liberal. We have the Reagan Republicans for people who think KCRCC is too liberal. We have Rally Right for people who think Reagan Republicans is too liberal. There are three groups to the right of Rally Right. The only thing they hate worse than Democrats is the Judean People's Front.

Anyway, someone (according to my paper; check cdapress.com) started a Tea Party group. Their first act was to apply for what they call a political tax exemption. When the IRS sent them a questionnaire they shut down the group rather than send the form back. That a political tax exemption doesn't exist is immaterial to them.

Why do fundies adore Leviticus 18.22...

...but ignore the demand of Leviticus 20.9?

18.22, we all know what that is - Fred Phelps' favorite passage and the guiding light of the GOP. Lev.18.22 orders you to kill your children for cursing you.

If any fundamentalist who believes every word of the King James Bible is the literal word of God, except for the seven hundred references to wine because we know that's the only mistranslated word in the whole Bible, and obeys every single word in the Bible, hasn't killed at least half his children then he is a Pharisee and will never enter the Kingdom of God.

Thus it is written.

Really Really Reaching 101: Gibson Raid Foretold IRS Teabagger Scrutiny

Now the extreme right is tying the 2009 raids on Gibson Guitars for illegally importing Madagascar rosewood to the 2012 IRS scrutiny of the teabaggers as "proof" Obama is using the government to go after his enemies. See, Gibson donates to Republicans so obviously a government with a Democratic president taking any action against them for...well, BREAKING THE LAW!!!...is a political attack. Take a look at http://hotair.com/archives/2013/05/26/does-that-gibson-guitar-raid-make-more-sense-now/ ...

HR 3 is the GOP's attempt to overthrow the government

It is the bill that says a presidential license isn't required to build the Keystone pipeline.

If the Republicans can get this shit through, why couldn't they also slip a clause into a critical bill declaring presidential approval isn't necessary to repeal bills, or requiring all laws sunset and require reapproval by Congress...which would mean the end of every agency and program the GOP hates - and since they hate everything but the Defense Department and the Border Patrol...

The president has no choice but to slap this thing down hard, and to start questioning the patriotism of the communist legislators who hate America so much they would attempt to destroy her this way.

Idaho sheriff plans to drop Boy Scout charter over BSA gay decision

Just saw this today, sorry...

http://www.cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_128b8731-7455-5508-aa15-fb6643f4330f.html

On Thursday the National Boy Scout Council voted to allow openly gay boys to participate as Scouts. In response, Kootenai County, Idaho, Sheriff Ben Wolfinger said on Friday that he is compelled to drop the department's Boy Scouts of America charter because the organization is promoting a lifestyle that is against state law. (Which of course shows how up-to-date our sheriff is; the Supreme Court overturned every sodomy law in the United States ten years ago.)

The strange thing is, the Boy Scouts are very strongly against scouts having sex of any kind...the Boy Scout Handbook used to contain warnings against masturbation, and so far as I know it still does.

Movies that should have been made by Troma?

And no fair just listing right-wing propaganda pieces like An American Carol and October Baby.

America's Biggest Pothead gets seven years

I told you about Michael Ihler before. Ihler, of St. Maries, Idaho, is the guy who claimed his 597 pot plants were for personal use.(You may remember Ihler was the guy who tore part of the roof off his house so the weed growing in his living room would get natural light.)

He got 5 years fixed prison time, 2 years indeterminate time (meaning if he doesn't adequately reform in the first five they can leave him in there for two more) and a $15,000 fine.

Ihler is so fortunate I'm not his judge. This asshole went into his sentencing hearing with the standard "I put marijuana in front of my family, relationships and responsibility" canned line that everyone who majorly fucks up uses to try to sweet-talk the judge into a lower sentence. And if he had been busted with four or five plants I might believe it. But this asshole cut off the roof of his fucking house so he could run a commercial pot farm in his living room. He is the closest thing to a drug lord St. Maries will ever see, and I would have put him away for 20 years.

Good news from our local school board election

I live in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where conservative insanity runs deep. On Tuesday, we had a school board election.

In Cd'A our main right-wing political club is the Reagan Republicans. They have decided that all elections are partisan elections, including nonpartisan ones like the school board, hospital board and city council. So they endorsed a slate of candidates who put "Republican" on their yard signs. There was also a Libertarian candidate who the RRs wouldn't endorse because he hates the RRs more than he hates the government.

There was another group called Balance North Idaho, who investigated qualifications before endorsing candidates. In the five races on Tuesday's ballot, only one candidate was endorsed by both groups, and he lost.

The results: The Libertarian guy, who campaigned his ass off, lost by the biggest margin. The more he campaigned the worse he got. All the Reagan Republican endorsees lost. All the Balance candidates won. But the biggest winner of the night was a doctor running for a seat on the hospital board...he wasn't endorsed, barely advertised, didn't knock on doors himself...his patients got together and knocked on doors without being asked because they like him. And he is a good doctor.

The RRs will try the same shit in the November election. I don't know if the "partisaning" tactic will work then (there is a park construction project a lot of people are pissed about) but I'll let you know.

I like this kid...

We run a "kids write" column in our Tuesday paper. We put a topic in the paper this Tuesday, and the next Tuesday print the responses.

The question being asked this week: What is the world's greatest treasure?

Second answer: "The world's greatest treasure is bacon."

The Real Political Scandal

...is that we pay Republican congressmen $165,000 a year to come to work and on the two days a week they actually do, all they want to do is attack the president and try repealing his health care law.

The quickest way to reform Congress would be to name the CEO of Labor Ready sergeant-at-arms of the House of Representatives. Labor Ready pays you at the end of each day you work; putting Congress on the same footing can't hurt.
