BREAKING: Judge grants default judgment against Proud Boys for ignoring DC church's civil suit -- leader Enrique Tarrio by phone tells judge "I'm getting counsel for myself.' Superior Ct judge gives him til June 4 to respond to complaint from church that had BLM flag defaced.

Lawyer for Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church had asked judge to grant default against Proud Boys International and Tarrio, for failing to respond to complaint. BLM signs were stolen from AME Dec. 12 during PB protest in DC. Tarrio later admitted involvement.

Today was Tarrio's first response to suit. Judge Heidi Pasichow said she was glad he decided to join. Tarrio said to judge: "I have a criminal case pending. I'm afraid anything I would say in the civil case would affect my criminal case -- I don't know how to respond."

Judge Pasichow said court could offer pamphlet on getting lawyer. Typically, in a civil case, a response to complaint is due within 21 days. Church severed Tarrio and PLB w complaint in early Jan. Judge: "That was filed many moons ago."

Judge said Tarrio can proceed pro se if he wants: "That is up to you." But, judge made clear if Tarrio represents himself, he must be responsive: "Your answer must be filed sooner, rather than later. Time is of the essence."

Tarrio acknowledged he understood the judge. He's got a criminal court appearance June 8 for two gun counts. He (and perhaps a civil atty) are expected to appear virtually June 4, says judge.

Dressed in red, white and blue, Quaglin allegedly used a chemical spray, hitting one officer in the face at close range. Prosecutors say he also stole a police shield and used it to ram other officers as the crowd tried to breach Capitol Hill....

According to the affidavit, the North Brunswick resident was captured on body worn cameras outside the U.S. Capitol during the siege. The documents state that seemingly unprovoked, Quaglin shouted at Metropolitan Police Department officers: “You don’t want this fight. You do not want this f---ing fight. You are on the wrong f---ing side. You’re going to bring a f---ing pistol, I’m going to bring a f---ing cannon. You wait! You wait! You wait! Stay there like a f---ing sheep! This guy doesn’t know what the f--- is going on.” Several seconds later, Quaglin allegedly grabbed onto the fence and appears to shake it and push against it while the MPD officers are on the other side of the fence.

Additionally, according to the affidavit, Quaglin pushed a number of officers (see affidavit photo below), while aggressively shouting at them. He also allegedly assaulted numerous officers including spraying one officer with bear spray in the face as well as grabbing a shield and striking an officer with it....

According to the federal criminal complaint, Quaglin allegedly posted a photo online (see below) a couple of weeks before the riot of guns and weapons saying: "I have been planning this since Bush left office and Obama came in" and after the riots, he said he had a great time storming the Capitol.

At about 5 a.m. Wednesday, Takoma Park police responded to a report of gunshots in the parking lot of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums, in the 7300 block of New Hampshire Avenue. When they got there, the police said in a statement, Dixon, who was off duty at the time, told them he had seen what he thought was a car being broken into and “engaged the suspects.”

The people tried to drive away, and Dixon fired at them. Shortly afterward, Williams and Johnson arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds and died from their injuries, police said....

“You can’t shoot people for property crimes,” Elrich said; “you can’t do that.” The county executive pointed out that as a Pentagon officer, “He had no authority in Montgomery County.”

And given that the only accusation against the two men is breaking into cars, “The idea that he drew his gun rather than pick up his cellphone and call the police is very troubling.”

Ukraine's counterintelligence operatives say they have intercepted communications between members of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" ("DPR" based in the Russia-occupied part of Donbas and their Russian supervisors. Part of the recordings is available to UNIAN.

A Russian supervisor (nom de guerre "Rostov", 35, a regular serviceman with the Russian army, ranking as major, commanding a howitzer self-propelled artillery battalion based in the occupied town of Novoazovsk in Donetsk region, gives an order to one of "DPR" commanders, A.V. Chepishko, a battalion's first deputy chief of staff, to open fire on selected targets. He briefs the militant on target location data and in the course of the conversation it becomes clear that the target is in fact a position of the "DPR" unit.
