Justice Dept. says ballot drop box monitoring in Ariz. is likely illegal
Source: Washington Post
The Justice Department stepped in to an ongoing Arizona election lawsuit Monday, supporting a claim by the League of Women Voters of Arizona that monitoring ballot drop boxes can amount to illegal voter intimidation.
The department said such vigilante ballot security measures, including filming voters at drop boxes, probably violates the federal Voting Rights Act.
When private citizens form ballot security forces and attempt to take over the States legitimate role of overseeing and policing elections, the risk of voter intimidation and violating federal law is significant, the department said in a statement of interest filed in the case.
The League of Women Voters alleged that several organizations planned widespread campaigns to surveil and intimidate Arizona voters at ballot drop boxes and baselessly accuse them of voter fraud.

Wisconsin Democrats need held with absentee ballot training
Two-hour sessions tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Monday. Training available for the first half-hour.
The November 8th General Election is rapidly approaching, and voters need your help fixing errors on their absentee ballots! Join WisDems for a brief overview of our cure program, followed by a cure phonebank. We'll review why we make these calls, the types of cure "buckets," how to use the VPB and Checklist, and more.
After the 30 minute training, we'll keep the zoom room open for an additional 90 minutes to make calls together. We encourage you to join for as long as you're able! Experienced volunteers will be able to skip the training and get straight to calling.
