Cuomo Accused of Unwanted Advance at a Wedding: 'Can I Kiss You?'

Source: New York Times

Anna Ruch had never met Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo before encountering him at a crowded New York City wedding reception in September 2019. Her first impression was positive enough.

The governor was working the room after toasting the newlyweds, and when he came upon Ms. Ruch, now 33, she thanked him for his kind words about her friends. But what happened next instantly unsettled her: Mr. Cuomo put his hand on Ms. Ruch’s bare lower back, she said in an interview on Monday.

When she removed his hand with her own, Ms. Ruch recalled, the governor remarked that she seemed “aggressive” and placed his hands on her cheeks. He asked if he could kiss her, loudly enough for a friend standing nearby to hear. Ms. Ruch was bewildered by the entreaty, she said, and pulled away as the governor drew closer.

“I was so confused and shocked and embarrassed,” said Ms. Ruch, whose recollection was corroborated by the friend, contemporaneous text messages and photographs from the event. “I turned my head away and didn’t have words in that moment.”

Rudy Giuliani Temporarily Suspended From YouTube Over Election Fraud Allegations

Source: Forbes

YouTube removed content from Rudy Giuliani’s account and temporarily blocked it from uploading new videos Monday, after the Trump attorney violated policies that prohibit users from alleging widespread election fraud in the presidential race.

A YouTube spokesperson said Monday the company had removed content from Giuliani’s channel because it violated the platform’s presidential election integrity policy, which bans “content that advances false claims that widespread fraud, errors, or glitches changed the outcome of any past U.S. presidential election.”

YouTube also removed content that breached a sale of regulated goods policy prohibiting “content facilitating the use of nicotine.”

Arizona opens vaccinations at 2 of its state-run sites to people 55 and older

Source: Arizona Republic

Arizona on Monday announced two of its state-run vaccination sites are now open to anyone 55 years of age and older as the first step in moving to an age-based model fo distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.

The decision is part of a hybrid age-based approach the state is taking to its vaccine rollout moving forward, state health department director Dr. Cara Christ said. The state will be prioritizing those 55 and older and a specific group of front line essential workers.

"One of the things that was difficult with the priorities as we moved through was proving that you were eligible to get the vaccine," Christ said. For example, figuring out how people would prove that they have an underlying health condition, she said.

Border Democrat warns Biden about immigrant fallout

Source: Axios

A Democratic lawmaker representing a border district warned the Biden administration against easing up too much on unauthorized immigrants, citing their impact on his constituents, local hospitals and their potential to spread the coronavirus.

Why it matters: Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) told Axios he supports President Biden. But the moderate said he sees the downsides of efforts to placate pro-immigrant groups, an effort that threatens to blow up on the administration.

"You just can't say, 'Yeah, yeah, let everybody in' — because then we're affected down there at the border," Cuellar told Axios on Saturday.

The big picture: Border crossings are rising. Hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley area are already busy. The Border Patrol has less capacity than normal.

Can we stop (absent actual evidence) asserting that the accusers have been bribed by Republicans?
