Putin's rise to power.

The money laundering has a very familiar ring to it.
I found this to be very informative.

I remember when there was one telephone in the house.

I wasn't the old candlestick phone, but a modern one with the speaker and receiver in the one hand-piece. It was black and had a dial, of course.

It sat on a special little seat and table combo in the hall.

Our phone number was 71353.
It was a party line that we shared with another subscriber.
Our signal was one long and two short rings.
I think the other party was two longs.
Still, it was fun and a bit daring to pick up on the two longs and eavesdrop.

When my grandmother needed a phone number she'd say to me "Honey, call Central and ask for Vincent's market's phone number."
I didn't know what 'Central' was, but I knew you just dialed 'O' and asked the lady to look up a number.

That's my reminiscence for Christmas eve which has nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas eve.
Merry Christmas.

Anyone using VOIP for phone?

How's that work?

The U.S. population is approx. 1/4 Catholic. SCOTUS is 2/3.

Why is that?

H.L. Mencken was a prophet.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

As an attorney, Mitchell did something she knows you never do.

She asked a witness questions that she didn't already know the answers to.
With no independent investigation and facts to go on she was a fish out of water.
I don't know what the repugs were hoping for, but she wasn't it.

OK, here's my calendar from 1958. I was 17.

Sunday, June 1.
Sunday school and church with mom and dad.
Dad took us to lunch at the club afterward.

Wednesday, June 4.
Bible study with the guys.
Went for malts after.
Bobby got a new catcher's mitt.

Saturday June 7.
On the way to library helped an old lady across street.
Refused gratuity.

Sunday June 8.
Sunday school and church with mom, dad, and grandma.
Lunch at club after.
Grandma said the blessing.

Monday June 9.
Played 18 holes with the guys at Roddy's dad's club.
Had club sandwiches and fries in the club lounge after.
My dad's club has better fries. Crispier.

Wednesday June 11.
Volunteered at the hospital.
Emptied and cleaned bedpans.
Dr. Redmond said he wished they had more like me.

Vision impaired? Huge computer monitor.

I have Age Related Macular Degeneration. (ARMD)
I can still see well enough to drive in the local area, but finer stuff is hard for me to see.

For $98 I bought a 24" TV.
For $20 I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse.
I connected the TV to my laptop with an HDMI cable.

Raise your hand if you know 75 women.

One, two...three...?
Keep your hand up if you 'know' 75 women who would vouch for you on national television.
My Bullshit Meter just pegged.

Ok, I'll come clean re: NYT op-ed

It wasn't me either.
I know, I know.
A lot of people are saying it was that bastid trof.
And yes, I have used the word 'lodestar' occasionally.
But I didn't do it.

(I think it was Tiffany.)
