OK so I wrote this letter about campaign financing in support of a county wide advisory referendum. I have gotten good feedback on it and that's great. However, I am more concerned about the issue then the praise. so please. If you find value in the letter below. commit a little plagiarism. Get this idea out there. Change it to fit any local campaign issue or the national situation. Don't bother to give me credit you have my blanket permission. I left off a short portion urging people to vote for the Kane Co Il refendum, but I think the rest is widely applicable.
I woke up this morning with an idea for a get rich quick scheme. I’m going to get Congress to pass a “Make Me Filthy Rich” bill. It’s a perfect way to give myself a giant economic advantage over everyone else. The question is, how best to get this bill passed?
The first way is obvious: I can bribe some congressmen to pass my bill. Of course, then both the congressmen and I could go to prison. Maybe not.
Alternately: I can send out a questionnaire to all the members of Congress. It will ask, “Would you like to see the ‘Make Me Filthy Rich’ bill pass?” Disregarding the “no’s”, I then have only to contribute enough money to those candidates who support my get-rich-quick bill.
I could give directly in limited amounts, or in unlimited amounts to a superPAC.
Or, best option yet, give anonymously and limitlessly to a 501(c) 4. We have a winner!
Any one of these options is perfectly legal. I could spend as much money as it takes to buy my bill into law…if I actually had it.
Only the already very rich special interests have that ability, such as oil companies and Wall Street firms, and unions. They already employ this scheme, and receive special favor and subsidy far in excess of what would be considered reasonable if put to popular vote.
When money is considered speech, speech is no longer free. Suddenly you are only entitled to as much freedom and democracy as your own wallet will allow, and the words of the rich will ring out louder than the voices of those who need most to be heard.
Romnney sends dollar bills to Cayman Islands to avoid rickets in dead Presidents.
After reading about the serious problems associated with vitamin D deficiency, presidential candidate Mitt Romnney, send millions of dollar bills to the Cayman island, for the sun. Any claim that one would do so to avoid paying US income taxes has been firmly denied. How would America feel of Ben Franklin's images all developed brittle bones? We need our folding dead presidents to be nice a crisp. The bright warm sun of the Caribbean is just what we need to honor the dead Americans on our money.
Here is how capitalism is supposed to work.....
If you can't find people to do a job, you raise the wages and/or other inducements to the point were you get qualified people to do the job. Strangely enough employers when faced with this options always want the government to change the rules to allow them to either keep wages the same or squeeze them down. Capitalism does work it is a system of incentives. Those on the top have been allowed to vet the hiring the politicians who make the rules for 40 years. The rules have just been abused to hell by the corporate anti-capitalistic thugs.
