GOPrs are showing us all that both integrity and objective reasoning are pretty much overrated...

Tribalism, greed, hypocrisy and a complete lack of self-respect are all they have to go by these days... They're not even pretending to be competent. It's that bad.

No thinking American (Or basic a human being for that matter) should ever take their word for anything. Doing so is pure folly and at one's own peril.

Just look at the mess that's been made from putting GOPrs in charge of EVERYTHING. Definitely fucked up beyond all recognition.

And we haven't even hit rock bottom yet.

If the people who voted for them will EVER finally realize that the GOPrs have stabbed them all in their backs, perhaps they might notice just how fucked over they really are. But at this point, it's not as if I either care or even expect them to respond accordingly, like a normal person who has been betrayed.

But in their world, delusions are easier than reality and we shouldn't expect anything else other than confusion, apoplexy and reactionary behavior. (Jeez, what was the point of throwing shit at a restaurant and screaming "MAGA?&quot

Soooo....

It's up to us to come together and save their miserable asses... And we can do that, because there's more of us than them. Left in safe Democratic districts, middle in swing districts... a little not as left than the middle in Red Country, we're all Democrats. And we're here to save the day and they ought to join us...

But if they don't, fuck it, we'll just do it ourselves.

You know, I always hate to see Democrats with seniority in Congress leave office...

With very, very few exceptions, the loss of a Democratic incumbent isn't welcome for me... However, I do understand that sometimes we need to clean house and in spite of Crowley's years in his House seat, I feel that it was time for him to go.

Lawrence O'Donnell made a couple of excellent points about why Crowley lost his seat:

- Changing demographics in that congressional district from mostly white Irish Catholic to over 50% Latino.

- Crowley was never really challenged because he was in a very safe Democratic district. I expect Ocasio-Cortez to win the general easily, just as long as Democrats get out to vote.

Once the election results were established, Congressman Crowley IMMEDIATELY endorsed Ocasio-Cortez for the seat and stated that Donald Trump was the ONLY enemy that we should concern ourselves with. He's absolutely correct.

Ocasio-Cortez has been repeated referred to as a "Bernie Sanders supporter." I really couldn't give a shit about any of that because she ran as a Democrat. I'm no fan of Bernie fandom, but because I'm a partisan Democratic Party supporter, running as a Democrat automatically gets 99% of my support. As long as she sticks by her principles and does not fall into corruption, as well as stays a productive and loyal member of the Democratic caucus, that's all that I can request for her to continue receiving that support.

The mere fact that she's to the left of most of the Democrats who are currently in Congress is also not a concern for me, because I'M ALSO TO THE LEFT of most Democrats who are currently in Congress. I'm to the left of most Congressional Democrats and yet, I still support them, I'm sure that Ocasio-Cortez will learn that being part of team has its benefits.

What I do regard about Ocasio-Cortez is the fact that she sincerely and deeply resonated with the people in that congressional district. Their interests seem to be her interests, other than opposing Donald Trump, that is what really matters.

So, with everything in consideration here, I'm not going to be disappointed about Crowley's loss, because now is the right time for a changing of the guard. And if Ocasio-Cortez keeps her voice, I'm sure that she'll make a fine addition to the Democratic caucus. I hope that she'll be loud and vocal in defending her constituents from the disaster that his Donald Trump.

We should all lend our own support to her as well. Because, when we're all together, we're strong and we can't be beat.

So, a hearty congratulations to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, welcome to Democratic family and on to victory in November!

100 Ways White People Can Make Life Less Frustrating For People of Color

Just a few suggestions to start with.

Kesiena Boom

As someone with very low tolerance for racist bullshit, I’ve managed to surround myself with white people who are cognizant of their privilege and strive to make the world a less terrifying and frustrating place for people of color. This means that I often deal with said white people asking me what they can actually do to affect change. So here, anxious allies of the world, are 100 simple ways to be the change. It's not nearly comprehensive, but it's somewhere to start. Go forth and disrupt our harmful racial paradigm!

1. Just because you can’t see racism around you doesn’t mean it's not happening. Trust people of color’s assessment of a situation.

2. Don’t assume that all people of color share the same views. We are not a monolith.

3. Don’t assume or guess people’s races. This is NOT a fun game for us.

4. If someone tells you they’re from Uganda, don’t say, “I went to Nigeria once!” Just, please.

5. Related: Don’t refer to Africa as a country. It's a continent and it's wildly varied. Yes. Take a moment.

6. Oh, and rest assured that literally no person of color ever wants you to get back from holiday, show off your tan and excitedly exclaim, “Look, I’m almost as dark as you!” Cease and desist.

7. Don’t assume that a person of color knows everything about their country of heritage. Do you know everything there is to know about America? Germany? Sweden? That’s what I thought.

8. Don’t assume we can run if we’re Black, do math if we’re Asian, have drinking problems if we’re indigenous…

9. Regard us as autonomous, unique individuals, not as representatives of our race.

10. Don’t make embarrassing jokes to try and be “down” with people of color. We’ll laugh at you, not with you.

Paul Ryan once held a rally for the baker who refused to serve Biden, where was civility then?

By subir / Daily Kos (06/25/2018) - June 26, 2018

Earlier this week, Maxine Waters encouraged Americans to protest high officials who enable Trump’s cruelty and bigotry in public spaces like restaurants.

Trump immediately responded with personal vitriol, calling Rep. Waters “Low IQ” and warning her to “be careful”, presumably of violence form his followers. This is a threat he has repeated many times at rallies, egging on his “very fine” followers.

In response, Waters reiterated that her call was for peaceful protest, and went on Chris Hayes’ program to relate all the times Trump has called for violence.

“He calls for more violence than anybody else,” the California lawmaker said. […]

‘I’d like to punch him in the face,'” Waters recalled.

“Another violent statement — ‘I’d like to knock the crap out of them,” Waters quoted.

“Another one — ‘Maybe he should be roughed up,’” Waters recalled.

Waters also pointed to the time when someone was removed from a May 2017 Trump rally in Massachusetts.

“Try not to hurt him but if you do, I’ll defend you in court. Don’t worry about it,” Trump said. — thehill.com/…

In response to Rep. Waters’ moral clarity and call for action, both Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer rushed to defend her, and used their platforms to call out Trump’s naked hypocrisy and gaslighting. They both said a man who has led chants of “Lock Her Up”, called ordinary people “vermin”, “rapists” and “murderers”, shouldn’t expect civility from those he targets.

Just kidding.

That’s not what happened at all.

Since when are smarmy, gas-lighting, prevaricating mouth-pieces for assholes a protected class?

If anyone can answer that, then perhaps it'll help me understand this argument that I keep hearing about why SHS should not have been told to go pound sand.
