"Bernie, you were confronted at NetRoots by black women," Johnson said. "You have yet to put out

a criminal justice reform package like O’Malley did."

Good to know, pnwmom, thank you.

Al Giordano knows this about what Martin O'Malley has done since #BlackLivesMatter came to Netroot Nation

"This Will Keep Happening Until Bernie Sanders Learns"

Instead too many of you are on Twitter right now whitesplaining and lecturing and talking down to black folks and people of all hues who happen to see this through the lens of the same team. Oh, yeah, that's a real bright idea for winning this campaign. Let's go on Twitter and troll the black people about how they don't understand Bernie.

Bernie handled it badly again today. He left the stage and went shaking hands among the white people in the crowd. He told a reporter that the protesters "don't want to listen to anything." Just like in Phoenix, he ran.

Contrast that will how Martin O'Malley handled the #BlackLivesMatter Protest in Phoenix .. he shut up. sat down and listened, and listened a lot more. Went through out to conference all the damn day seeking to listen to people of color who would talk to him. And, since then he has put out the most progressive and detailed policy proposals on controlling police violence, prison and criminal justice reform and related matters. You don't see people protesting at his rallies. They probably will soon enough but, he'll know how to respond unlike your guy."

Much more.. worth the read.. https://www.tsu.co/AlGiordano/75250428

I'm sorry you can't get to the link, freshwest! Turns out I can't

copy anymore of it.. it keeps going to a sign up sheet every time I try.

Too bad because it's good analysis.. I've like Giordano for years.

Here's another paragraph on his blog I was able to post, though..

Al Giordano I understand perfectly well Bernie's world view. It's all economics. If you have a job with good wages you'll never be pulled over by a police officer for driving while black. Nor shot. That that happens every day doesn't fit in Bernie's concept that racism is merely a symptom of economic inequality. It's a rampant materialism - that everything everywhere is always determined by money - that causes the blind side. He is as much a 60s guy on that

Thank you, William. It is so not about BS, Hillary, President Obama, or Martin O'Malley.. but,

it is how they respond to it.. and Al Giordano makes a good case that this is going to keep happening..

I'm going to miss you, brave.. quite the send off.. they can't handle the truth so they try

and shut you up.

Mahalo for your thread, fresh~

Exactly, brave.. BS doesn't know how to engage #BlackLivesMatter Activists.. has he never heard of

coalition building? So he's "disappointed" because he came to talk about "Social Security and Medicare".. which these Black kids being murdered by police will have no chance.

Yes it is.. "Christian Taylor, Unarmed 19-Year-Old, Shot And Killed By Police"

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A police officer in suburban Dallas shot and killed a college football player during a struggle after the unarmed 19-year-old crashed a car through the front window of a car dealership, authorities said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the dead man as Christian Taylor, of Arlington. Taylor was a sophomore at Angelo State University in San Angelo.

"Poll Shows Why Black Lives Matter Activists Should Be Proud"

snip//

The poll saw increases in the number of blacks, whites and Hispanics who felt more changes were needed. In 2014, only 39 percent of whites said more needed to be done. In 2015, that number jumped to 53 percent. For blacks, the numbers increased from 79 percent to 86 percent, and for Hispanics, 54 percent to 70 percent.

Pew surveyed 2,002 adults between July 14 and July 20, using live interviewers to reach both landlines and cell phones.

A Washington Post survey, released Wednesday, asked the same question as the Pew Research Center and got very similar results.

The Pew poll comes after a year of heightened Black Lives Matter activism, including numerous rallies, die-ins and acts of civil disobedience. A Gallup poll released Tuesday showed comparable results.

Boo, you have to consider the source of those acting out in such a manner.

Brilliant post, Bains. Mahalo!

"That whole thread about LU and the one about Clinton in Beijing is talking about how great it is that Bernie is going to get votes from RWers. They are saying it is more important than Clinton speaking out for global women's rights in the 90s."

They would.

"You willfully ignore the obvious, and you have recommended threads attacking Black Lives Matter. You think I'm going to actually take seriously your pretense at moral righteousness? Anyone who attacks movements for civil rights like BLM shows themselves to be diametrically opposed to the fundamental values that are central to my politics."

Anyone who attacks #BlackLivesMatter does so at their own peril and that of the candidate they are ignorant trying to protect.

"Poll Shows Why Black Lives Matter Activists Should Be Proud"

Nearly one year after Michael Brown was shot dead by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, a new poll shows a growing number of people believe there's much to be done before black lives will be valued as much as others.

Fifty-nine percent of Americans now believe changes are needed to give African-Americans equal rights, according to a Pew Research Center poll released on Wednesday.

That's up from 46 percent in a Pew poll just last year, before Brown was killed by officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9, setting off a series of demonstrations and fueling the Black Lives Matter movement.
