Ukraine Prosecutor Says No Evidence of Wrongdoing by Bidens May 16, 2019

Ukraine’s prosecutor general said in an interview that he had no evidence of wrongdoing by U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden or his son, despite a swirl of allegations by President Donald Trump’s lawyer.

The controversy stems from diplomatic actions by Biden while his son, Hunter Biden, sat on the board of Burisma Group, one of the country’s biggest private gas companies. As vice president, Biden pursued an anti-corruption policy in Ukraine in 2016 that included a call for the resignation of the country’s top prosecutor who had previously investigated Burisma.

Yuriy Lutsenko, the current prosecutor general, said that neither Hunter Biden nor Burisma were now the focus of an investigation. He added, however, that he was planning to offer details to U.S. Attorney General William Barr about Burisma board payments so American authorities could check whether Hunter Biden paid U.S. taxes on the income.

“I do not want Ukraine to again be the subject of U.S. presidential elections,” Lutsenko said in an interview Tuesday in his office in Kiev. “Hunter Biden did not violate any Ukrainian laws -- at least as of now, we do not see any wrongdoing. A company can pay however much it wants to its board.” He said if there is a tax problem, it’s not in Ukraine. [snip]

Back in March 2016, [then VP] Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees if Ukraine failed to address corruption and remove its Prosecutor General, Viktor Shokin, who soon after left office amid widespread calls for his dismissal. Though Shokin had begun a probe into Burisma, it was dormant when he departed, according to a former prosecutor.

“At the end of the day, Shokin submitted his own resignation,” Lutsenko said.

Complaining about the Mueller Report price tag...

how much did they spend on Benghazi? On hounding the Clintons, especially Hillary, over the past decades? Hillary was exonerated every time.

And just for the heck of it:

You read my mind!

Can we talk about Ivanka and how much money she and her husband have grifted since she 'gave up her life' to the American people?

Can we talk about Jared Kushner, his security clearances, his business conflicts of interest, and his activities in Saudi Arabia?

Oh, if they really want to talk about nepotism, LETS DO.

What utter BS now about right to counsel and cross examination

The House had no recourse to a special investigator, and so had to do its own investigations. Witnesses were deposed behind closed doors to keep them from lining up their stories. Both parties were allowed to be present as members of appropriate committees, and the witnesses all had access to counsel. Of course the president was excluded. This was not the time for any of the other BS he's talking about and this earnest little jackhole knows that.

Blatant lies like this ought to get you censured for ethics violations at the very least.

[and again, the main argument is just, 'unfair!!']

Senator on MSNBC (Independent, Angus King) saying witnesses

are much more likely, that given the 'Bolton bombshell' the prospect of calling no witnesses would be ridiculous. He thinks there may be as many as 10 senators who will vote *at least* for Bolton if not more witnesses.

He said there were definite rumblings, and seemed sincere. Interesting.

Clip of Stefanik making noises about Trump sending 'lethal' aid when Obama did not-

Ignoring that Zelensky wasn't elected at that time and his predecessor had an admin we couldn't trust, and ignoring that the Javelins we sent couldn't actually be used to defend against the Russians.

I have not missed her.

Intelligence Committee is tweeting rebuttals as fast as they can.

They do have some catching up to do, but here's the link:

Also, Wonkette does a good job with rebuttals as well.

No impeachment after Iran Contra... Oh, he is just waving a red flag in front of the bulls, now.

If Ollie North and co. weren't such lying liars who lie, things might have been different. What Ken is saying is that he wants this to all go away, just like Iran Contra did. Little dustup, little brouhaha in the news, and let's move on.

Nope.

eta and given Bill Barr's role in the Iran Contra goings-on, was it really such a good idea to bring it up?

We supposedly don't have enough $$ for proper veterans services or health care in this country

but this asschap personally has $10 million lying around in a campaign war chest to buy ONE tv advert...

and we should give a cheap damn if it's money down the drain for him because he got caught trying to pretend the presidency is his own little mafia fiefdom?

Boo. Hoo.

That's not how this works.

"If Johnny testifies, I'll end up in the slammer for sure. We gotta find a way to gag him. Wait, I know just the thing! Get a restraining order!" There are so many crooks out there who would love to be able to do that if it were a thing.

It's not a thing.
