Every time I see a link to a story from The Hill, all it takes is a quick web search to find the same information from several different reputable news outlets. They get my clicks, not The Hill.

Those marked with checks were around in 2017 and voted for a rule holding that such protests on the House floor (to say nothing of inside HPSCI’s SCIF) were a violation of House Rules.

Yes. Withholding the funds until Ukraine performed an unrequired action in order to receive those funds was extortion. As usual with extortion, the action demanded was not above board. Whether Ukraine actually investigated or not, Trump just wanted them to say that they were doing so. Walking Ukraine into saying they found dirt on Biden was the presumable next step, though it didn't get that far before the whistle blew.

Teri Kanefield is good.
She's obviously smart and knowledgeable, and also surprisingly reassuring in places. I had a couple of nits here and there, but overall she is just fantastic at laying out the situation we are in, and what we can do about it. I read two similar threads last night that were frightening and gloomy, almost to the point of being unhelpful. This thread strikes me as a clear-eyed view that addresses the situation realistically but without hitting the doom button quite so hard. Highly recommended.
