It sounded a lot like a retcon to me.

Crozier did not go to the media. Modly's rewriting the story to make Crozier a scapegoat, and his crew isn't having it.

I like this fellow!

There's bunches of science-y info (in layperson language) that boils down to saying that hydroxychloroquine is not all that suited for covid19 patients, with pretty straightforward reasons as to why it's a bad idea.

The best part though is where he addresses the people criticizing him for not offering up enough hope:

Raising hopes just for the sake of raising hopes is not where I am, though, and in fact I find that whole idea to be cruel. We’re going to defeat this virus, this epidemic, by being as hard-nosed as we can be about collecting real data on real-world outcomes as quickly as efficiently as we can, not by talking vaguely about miracle cures and isn’t it something and wouldn’t it be great. You’ll need to go somewhere else for that. Try Dr. Oz, he’s good at that crap. I’ll stick to what I’m good at here.

Straight talk with no time for BS, good for him.

I read about that the other day.

It's appalling. Somebody ought to find a way for that milk to be donated to people who are too poor to buy it anyway, then someone at least gets some good out of it. Throwing it out is so wasteful and wrong.

Part of Obama's problem was that Mitch McConnell

and John Boehner (yikes, he's not missed) were chiseling away at the funding.

I thought some of the comments toward the end of the OP's article dovetailed nicely with another conversation on DU today about how the US (in addition to GM's efforts) should be manufacturing our own masks.

One of the reasons for the current supply shortage, she said: “We’ve allowed our own national capacity to manufacture things to degrade and in some places go away. And we’ve done that for cost-efficiency sake.”

She later added: “What we need is not a big stockpile. We need a new strategy. We need to use the technologies we have now to create the capacity to respond to something in close to real-time.”

That means being able to “rapidly design and manufacture what we need, when we need it, and the quantities demanded,” she said.

Will you look at that: jobs! Just as there was no effort to restock, no one in the current WH will get near any responsible or workable plan for this though.

"outsourced"

Getting data and recommendations from public health officials regarding a public health emergency that is killing thousands worldwide every day is not outsourcing. It's asking them to do their jobs.

It's no surprise to anyone that Tucker Carlson isn't bothering to do the job of a responsible journalist. He is a gormless twit, needlessly endangering lives by his mere existence. That he even considers himself "part of the conversation" would be laughable if it weren't so dangerous.

Good for Tapper in calling out trump for his 'leering' model comment.

That was a vile, disgusting moment, or should I say yet another vile, disgusting moment among many.

Sad to say the answer to 'Do you have a plan?' is a resounding no -- certainly not one that is going to stem the tide of the virus any time soon.

Lowes and Home Depot have online ordering and delivery/pickup options available.

Both companies have also apparently put new protocols in place to take social distancing into account with marked floors and plexiglass shields for checkers, even monitoring/regulating the number of people in store at a time. I don't blame either company for staying open, but I do think people need to order online more so they (and their germs) can stay home.

It makes sense to try not to close businesses like Home Depot and Lowes -- they provide needed goods (YMMV) that keep people busy and help maintain property values during a time where every little bit is going to count. Some people are wisely starting food gardens now, which is always a good thing. More and more people may want or need to do this in the near future.

All that said, requiring delivery or pickup only of home/garden center goods might be a very good idea.

So... first the US taxpayers' stockpiles are hoarded from most states other than FL,

then the fed blocks states trying to buy supplies on the open market by outbidding them. When states finally manage to buy some supplies, the federal government further amuses itself by stealing those supplies?

What the ever loving hell?

A proactive government would be out in front of this.

Perhaps we should all be suggesting that this issue be addressed somehow in the next round of Congressional legislation, before insurance companies have a chance to make already sky high premiums even worse.

Still a step in the right direction.

...for use in the U.S. they will have to cleared by the FDA. Scanwell has applied to the FDA for Emergency Use Authorization, and the earliest the approval would come would likely be two months from now, according to Jeng.

How the tests work
Once a doctor from Scanwell partner telehealth company Lemonaid determines a patient's eligibility for the test, the test kit is sent via next business day delivery to the patient's home, said Jeng. The patient places the blood droplet on a test cassette. After 15 minutes, the results appear and the patient uploads an image to the Scanwell Health app. On the other end, a Lemonaid doctor or nurse practitioner will deliver the results in a few hours, said Jeng.

Well, there's a bottleneck or two. Also there's no explanation of eligibility. Hmm. Hopefully more information will be forthcoming soon. That is amazing to be able to do a test like this at home with a phone.
