Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has downplayed the storming of the U.S. Capitol, revealed in a new interview that his son, a House staffer, was in Congress on the day of the attack.
In an interview with Steve Krakauer on The Fourth Watch Podcast, the Fox News host mocked criticism for the unsubstantiated claims he advanced in Patriot Purge, his Fox Nation series on January 6th. At one point, Krakauer asked Carlson to explain why he wanted to give a different look at the Capitol riot.
I hated what happened on January 6, Carlson replied. He then added that one of my kids was actually in the building when it happened. I was on the phone in real time.
Carlson was likely referring to his son, Buckley Carlson, who works for Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN). . .

BUCKLEY?? Geez, Tucker is bad enough of a name for showing you are rich. But Buckley? The only "Buckley" I ever heard of was in Father of the Bride (great film). Geez.

Carl Levin, a liberal Democrat who rose from a prominent Detroit family to become Michigans longest-serving U.S. senator and helped set military priorities and investigate corporate behavior for decades before retiring in 2015, died Wednesday. He was 87 years old.
The Levin Center at Wayne State University's Law Center put out a statement late Wednesday, saying, "With great sadness and heavy hearts, the (center and family) announce the passing of Senator Carl Levin."
Levin disclosed in his recently published memoir, "Getting to the Heart of the Matter: My 36 Years in the Senate," that he was diagnosed with lung cancer nearly four years ago, when he was 83.
A defender of Senate traditions, even when his own party moved to change them, Levin, who was trained as a lawyer, twice served as chairman of the powerful Armed Services Committee, despite having never served in uniform himself. . .

A Black couple who refused to be vaccinated because of concerns about the federal government's infamous Tuskegee study have died from COVID-19.
Martin Daniel, 53, and his wife, 49-year-old Trina Daniel, died just three hours apart on July 6, according to Atlanta's ABC affiliate. They had been married for 22 years.
Martin Daniel graduated from Tuskegee University in Alabama which collaborated on the study and "the government's syphilis experiments on Black men during the 1930s influenced his and his wife's decision not to get vaccinated," according to the station.
"Just tying these two events together and understanding the historical context of what's going on, it really wears on me sometimes," said Cornelius Daniel, Martin's nephew. . .

Tragic, and unnecessary. But understood, in the context of their experiences. Still, whatever skepticism, we must save lives through vaccination.
They will be missed.

Lansing A long-awaited report on the 2020 election from a GOP-controlled Michigan Senate committee recommended that Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel consider investigating individuals who pushed false claims "to raise money or publicity for their own ends."
The suggestion was among the most striking details of the Senate Oversight Committee's recap of a months-long examination of the presidential election. The report was released Wednesday morning with its main author, Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, saying he found "no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud," contradicting months of assertions from some members of his own party including former President Donald Trump.
"The committee finds those promoting Antrim County as the prime evidence of a nationwide conspiracy to steal the election place all other statements and actions they make in a position of zero credibility," the report said. . .

Note that this is a GOP report. Trumpster heads will explode.
Donald Trump found himself incapable of sending out a simple "Happy Father's Day " message on Sunday morning, instead opting to issue a statement mentioning the holiday and then calling his critics "Losers."
In a statement, the former president, who suffered a humiliating loss to now-President Joe Biden, wrote: "Happy Father's Day to all, including the Radical Left, RINOs, and other Losers of the world. Hopefully, eventually, everyone will come together!"
Based upon responses, the ex-president won't be getting his Father's Day wish of coming together soon.

Freshman Republican U.S. Rep. Pete Meijer appeared to blast some Trump conservatives as "treacherous snakes" in his Memorial Day observances on social media as the military veteran slammed those "salivating for civil war."
Meijer, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq as a non-commissioned officer and was a conflict analyst in Afghanistan, issued a three-tweet barrage Monday about the holiday. It included his "struggle with Memorial Day" due to "brow-beating from the holier-than-thous."
But the 33-year-old congressman from Grand Rapids Township also acknowledged the sacrifices of veterans for whom Memorial Day holiday was created 50 years ago.
"Memories + knowledge that for too many its a reminder of a father, mother, wife, husband, son, daughter gone. Our shared obligation to make this nation worthy of their sacrifice," Meijer tweeted.
"And then there are those who take this sacrifice for granted, waxing patriotic while salivating for civil war," he continued. "Claiming they need to destroy the Republic in order to save it in the ultimate betrayal of oaths sworn. Those treacherous snakes can go straight to hell.". . .

Wow. Here's a Republican who tells it like it is.
It's not clear what set off Donald Trump late Tuesday morning, after the program ended, but he issued a statement insulting co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski and falsely claimed their show was struggling in the ratings.
"Crazy Joe Scarborough and his blood-curdling psycho wife (?), Mika, are going crazy because their ratings have absolutely TANKED," Trump said in a statement issued on his blog. "They are wrong too often and always predictable. They were right about me in 2016, but I did better in the 2020 Election with 12 million more votes. Stay tuned!"
