About Me

I'm always on the lookout to connect with like-minded people, learn new things and debate the issues. I enjoy indoor gardening, traveling, going to the theater, reading and cooking. My great grandmother instilled in me a love for democratic politics. She lived through the great depression and talked about how essential FDR was in rescuing our country from the brink. My pronouns are he and his; I use they, them and their in posts when I refer to others when I do not know their gender.

To the 2nd amendment extremists - you have the blood of children on your hands

Fucking enough - to defend unlimited gun rights today reveals you as the bottom dwellers that you are. You are part of the problem. You are the enablers.

Your absolutism kills. Your patron the NRA is an accomplice to these shootings.

Your unyielding opposition sounds like a cheer as the bodies are being dragged out of the school. They are merely sacrifices to your second amendment god. Collateral damage so you can stroke and coo at your precious gun.

Mods - there are many angry people today with just cause. I humbly suggest that you declare a moratorium on gun rights extremists today and ban those who only join DU to antagonize us during this period of heightened emotion.

I'm feeling a lot of hope and cautious optimism tonight about marriage equality

America has a lot of faults, but our founding documents have something within them that enables marginalized and disenfranchised Americans to eventually secure their liberty. The time it takes is too long, and the struggle is too painful, but I believe Dr. King and what he said about the arc of history. Our president is proof.

And now may be gay liberation's time, when we can fully lay claim to our birthright as Americans. We shall see if the tipping point has arrived next June, which is just about seven months from now.

This is the true American dream, and those who have struggled and overcame nearly impossible odds fill me with hope.

The founding fathers couldn't have conceived the idea of a gay rights movement. But they gave America the machinery for those who are motivated to secure freedom and keep it.

By the people and for the people - it means something.
