Did Putin of all people really just go there? Damn right he did...

...As for the arrests that were made, it seems strange in the very least as the arrests were conducted on the basis of corruption charges made by the American side. Whom did they charge? International officers. It may be possible that some of them did something wrong, I do not know, but the USA definitely have nothing to do with this. These officers are not United States’ citizens, and if anything did happen, it did not happen on the territory of the United States and the USA have nothing to do with it. This is yet another obvious attempt to spread their jurisdiction to other states. I have no doubt that this is obviously an attempt to prevent Mr Blatter’s re-election to the post of FIFA President, which is a grave violation of the principles that international organisations function on...

...We are aware of the position of the United States regarding the former special services employee Mr Snowden, who was a National Security Agency employee and who made public the illegal practice of the United States practically all over the world, including tapping the phones of foreign leaders. Everybody is discussing this, including in Europe, but nobody wants to grant him asylum, guarantee his security, nobody wants to quarrel with their partners, with their senior partners.

This may be understandable, as Mr Snowden is a former security service employee and a citizen of the United States. What about Mr Assange, who has been forced to hide at a foreign embassy for several years? This is almost like being imprisoned. What is he persecuted for? For sexual crimes? Nobody believes that, you do not believe that either. He is being persecuted for spreading the information he received from US military regarding the actions of the USA in the Middle East, including Iraq.

Why did I bring this up now? Unfortunately, our American partners use these methods for their own ulterior purposes. They are illegally persecuting people. I do not rule out the possibility that the same goes for this situation with FIFA. Although I do not know what this will result in, but the fact that this is happening on the eve of elections of the FIFA president leads one to think so.

Yeah...Please tell me again how Snowden and Assange aren't tools of Moscow...

Arizona woman gets 3.5 years prison for driving over non-voting husband

PHOENIX (Reuters) - An Arizona woman was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison on Thursday for running over her husband with the family car because he failed to vote in the 2012 presidential election, court officials said.

Holly Nicole Solomon, 31, pleaded guilty in April to two counts of aggravated assault under a plea agreement with prosecutors over the incident at a parking lot in Gilbert, a southeastern suburb of Phoenix.

Police said Solomon was upset with her husband, Daniel Solomon, in the days following the Nov. 6 re-election of U.S. President Barack Obama and believed the family would face hardship from his winning another term in office.

The 36-year-old man suffered a fractured pelvis from being run over following a wild chase on Nov. 10, 2012, that left him pinned beneath the Jeep.

Regardless of some bullshit concern trolling over Obama's "legacy"...

I'd like to believe the candidacy of Bernie Sanders is easily strong enough to stand on its own merits without his supporters treating Barack Obama as some kind of enemy...We as a forum can at least agree on that, right??

'Sex-obsessed' seal sent to girls-only park

A "randy" seal has been removed from her home in Cornwall to stop "further illicit breeding".

Common seal Sija, originally from Belgium, has been transferred to Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park where there are no male seals.

The decision was made after Sija gave birth to a second pup despite being given the contraceptive pill.

Brazil Police Find Decapitated Body of Murdered Journalist

The decapitated body of a blogger known for denouncing corrupt politicians has been found in a rural zone in southeastern Minas Gerais state, police said Wednesday.

Evany Jose Metzker, 67 was reported missing five days before his body was found near the town of Padre Paraiso in one of Brazil's poorest regions.

"His hands were tied behind his back and his body showed signs of torture," a police press officer said, adding that the murder was apparently motivated by Metzker's recent investigations into child prostitution and drug trafficking.

The officer spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to be quoted by name. He said police were also looking into the possibility that the murder was a crime of passion. He would not elaborate.

"It was a barbaric crime that has shocked Minas Gerais and all of Brazil," Kerison Lopes, president of the Minas Gerais Journalists Union said by telephone. "He was decapitated, scalped and tortured."

Of course Greenwald doesn't have a way to blame Obama for this, so it's not worthy of his attention...

Argentine court eases child abuser’s punishment, blaming six-year-old for being gay

An Argentine appeals court has touched off protests by reducing the sentence of a man convicted of abusing a six-year-old boy, on grounds that the victim was a homosexual who had previously been abused by his father.

The Federation of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transsexuals on Monday called for impeachment trials of the two members of a Buenos Aires appeals court who signed the decision.
The judges — Horacio Piombo and Benjamin Sal Llargues — slashed Mario Tolosa’s prison sentence from six years to three years and two months in a ruling disclosed on Monday.

Tolosa, the vice president of a neighborhood soccer club, had been convicted of abusing the boy in 2011.

In reducing Tolosa’s sentence, the judges reasoned that the boy, having been previously abused by his father, could not have been sexually abused in the same way a second time.
