Pab Sungenis's JournalHealthcare.gov is swamped!
Too much traffic is causing the site to have delays, and in some cases just go down with an error message to try later.
Obamacare is so "unpopular with the American people" that too many people are trying to sign up for it at once.
If I were White House press secretary at a briefing:
"Will the President be talking with Speaker Boehner to come to a compromise on the debt limit?"
"For decades, the United States has had a firm policy of not negotiating with blackmailers, extortionists, or terrorists."

Coca-Cola to LGBT: Fuck You.
Translation into plain English: "We still want your money, so we can keep giving it to people who want to kill you and everyone like you."
Emphasis mine.

Just had the pleasure of serving on a jury
on an alert on a pro-gay response.
The post in question: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=3732262
I voted to leave it, stating that the post in question was in no way an attack on the poster it was a reply to, and that far too often bigoted members of DU hold sway on juries when an anti-gay member alerts on anything even remotely pro-gay.
Will share the final results when they arrive. Maybe this time we will win the Russian Roulette of jury selection.
Need name suggestion for a sandwich.
Cheese, pickle, spicy mustard, grilled in a sandwich press.
Sunburned Ploughman or Communist Cubano?
Did using the old voting machines allow deBlasio to win?
This year, New York's Mayoral primary was held on the old lever-style voting machines, instead of the electronic black boxes that had been forced onto voters after the Bush coup of December, 2000.
Would the people who controlled the electronic machines, and who uniformly prefer conservative candidates, have allowed a liberal like deBlasio to actually win? Look at all the buildup the "third way" and conservative media gave their anointed darling, Christine Quinn. If the hackable machines had been in control is there any doubt that we would have heard endless news stories this morning about "the polls were wrong" and Quinn's "stunning come from behind victory?"
deBlasio deserved to win. He deserves to win in November. And hopefully once again using machines that actually count the votes instead of cooking them gave him that opportunity.
Legal Defense Fund for woman arrested for playing the banjo
https://www.wepay.com/donations/emily-yates-defense-fund_1Emily, an organizer with Iraq Veterans Against the War, was out in the streets in Philadelphia today with many others protesting the impending war in Syria. She marched peacefully with the protest to Independence Mall and there commenced playing her banjo, as she does all over the country. Now shes in jail. She has not been allowed any communication with the outside world. We are raising money to pay for both her legal defense and the incidental expenses of her unjust imprisonment.
This is more than just a "wacky news" or "Only in Philadelphia" story. This is about a crackdown on protests. Those who are interested in giving may follow the link above.
Nooooooooo. It's not about RACE!
Re: Syria. Look at it this way.
A ragtag bunch of rebels, struggling against a leader they consider an unelected tyrant, are hanging on for dear life.
The leader disregards his nation's laws and the standards of war. He barely holds off the rebels. Eventually he orders his generals to destroy entire cities in an effort to put down the rebellion.
You are the leader of the nation with the greatest military force in the world. You are called upon to intervene to stop the bloodshed and punish the tyrant, hopefully forcing him out of office. You can lead a decapitating strike, having your ships start an intense bombardment that will cripple much of the tyrant's warmaking ability in a matter of days.
Do you choose to intervene?
Congratulations, Lord Palmerston. You have stopped the American Civil War, ended the Lincoln Administration, and guaranteed the victory of the Confederacy.
Folks, Syria is in a civil war. They are not threatening their neighbors or anyone else. This is an internal matter. We have no right to intervene militarily.
Sanctions? Yes. Boycotts? Yes. Bombs? No.
This is not our war.
