About Me

I'm running for New Mexico State Senate District #33. I ran for NM State Representative 4 years ago and feel more of a need to run, to pick up votes up and down ballot for Democrats in my state and at the national level. My DU family provided much support 4 years ago (much with the help of our beloved Pinboy3niner) and I know I can count on support now. We're in this together. I have received the endorsements/support of Planned Parenthoood Votes New Mexico; AFSCME American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees; NEA National Education Association of New Mexico; AFT-NM American Federation of Teachers New Mexico; Sierra Club; and named a Gun Sense Candidate by Moms Demand Action. I was concerned in my interviews as I shared that I was running a Combined Campaign to elect Democrats up and down ballot, that I would not provide only my campaign information but always include information for (especially, because she is in a very tight race) US Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small, President Biden and all the local state senate, state representatives, county clerk, treasurer and commissioner. I worked hard to get a full ballot of Democrats, first time in over 25 years. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/committee-to-elect-denise-lang-browne-1

'Go back to Africa...' says my County Commissioner

His racism and veiled instigation of violence ( “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat....” retweeted by Trump).
This is why I ran for office. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2020-07-28/dems-slam-cowboys-for-trump-boss-for-back-to-africa-video%3f_amp=true

Thom Hartmann and DUer Omaha Steve inspired me to run for office & I'm asking for DU support

Thom Hartmann suggested in a program several years ago that we progressives need to step up, step out of our comfort zone and run for local offices....he said, "If not you, who? If not now, when?" Now I first heard those phrases decades ago but it hit me differently when Thom said them specifically about running for office...I think seeing Omaha Steve share about his running for office, about his campaign that I began to think for the first time about my running for office. I'm grateful to both these men. I want to see more DUers run for office and I hope this makes them think about it.

Our county has the County Commissioner whose video Trump shared saying, "The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat." We haven't elected a Democrat in over 25 years so Democrats quit running. I have been active in the county and state Democratic Party for a little less time than I've been a member of DU (since 2003). I have been very active in recruiting other Democrats to run and this year we have a full ticket: 2 state senators, 2 state representatives (our county is split into multiple Districts, a County Commissioner, County Treasurer and County Clerk.

Donations made to my campaign will fund a combined campaign where I will very actively work for one of the most challenged US Congresswoman, Xochitl Torres Small...she's running in a very tight race. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/committee-to-elect-denise-lang-browne-1

This DUer has been working hard for endorsements as I run for NM State Senate

Please help me elect our progressive US Congresswoman...and myself. I'll work hard for us.

This DUer is running for NM State Senate

I’m out collecting signatures for my nomination petition now. I’ll update my Facebook page, website after I file for office. I’ll get my Act Blue account up after the filing, too. I know that I can count on DU support. What I’m most proud of is my recruiting others to run.... for another Senate District, two State Representatives, County Commissioner, County Clerk and County Treasurer. I know that our running will deliver votes up and down ballot. Our US Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small is is in a very tight race and we need all the help possible to retain her.

Cowboys for Trump

Please give DU love by asking, “ Are you white nationalists?” as suggested by another DUer. I did. Never got an answer and now I’m blocked. This organization was begun by my County Commissioner Couy Griffin. I filed Ethics Complaint with Local DA and Secretary of State. He no longer has a Gofund Me site but some other woman does

86'd on Christmas Day by (ex) boyfriend

I dated Bob 40 years ago, 20 years ago and now we’ve been together for 2 years. While he was apolitical before, he became a strong Democrat and drove me around as I canvassed for our new Congresswoman Xochitl Small. Last night I was at his and his 88 year old father’s house to eat the meal we bought (already cooked) with his right wing, Fox lovin’ sister and ex- girlfriend, who cleans for his father and lives with his sister. Father said prayer and here is where I stoked the fires unnecessarily: I quoted Matthew 2 verse 12 about Jesus Joseph and Mary having to escape violence in their own country and went to Egypt. His sister started fuming, announced no one should leave but should stay and fix their own country. I said I was talking about Biblical story and I turned to the father and asked him about the farmer who used a whip against him. Sister started yelling the uncle (I knew nothing about an uncle) never was violent. Boyfriend never looked at me from the time they walked in. Ex girlfriend never said a word to me. I asked sister if she wanted me to leave, she looked at Bob and told him to tell me to back off. I asked him if I should leave. He said yes. I asked him what I’d done wrong. He said everything. I recognize that I was pushing buttons. I couldn’t help it. I also (unreasonably, unrealistically?) want a man who is loyal to me. I also think the women walked in ready for fight. I’m not even asking for advice or agreement from DU, just expressing my hurt, disappointment (in me and him) I’m trying not to think and obsess about what to do or say, just to be still, grieve over lost relationship and take care of myself. On second thought, I could really use some advice.

THIS is how the nation could lose its national parks. Led by woman I ran against (with DU Love) 2016

Yvette Herrell Boasts Affiliation with Group That Wants to Take Away Protected Federal Land

Silver City, N.M. – In a bombshell recording, career politician Yvette Herrell admitted on tape what we already knew: she will put special interests over those of New Mexicans in order to get elected to higher office. In a private meeting with her supporters, Herrell boasted that her position on the national board of directors for the Koch Brothers-backed, DC-based American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, would open opportunities for her in Washington, D.C.

While serving as a state chairperson for DC-based ALEC, she charged New Mexican taxpayers thousands of dollars to fly Herrell to out-of-state political events where far-right legislators conspire with big money interests to write big business’ dream legislation, like the transferring of millions of acres of federal public lands within New Mexico to the state, a bill that was introduced by Herrell in 2013.

“For someone who wants to ‘drain the swamp’ there's nothing swampier than bragging about your grand plan to get to Washington with taxpayer money AND special interest help,” said Joe Kabourek, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “Herrell’s involvement with ALEC is disqualifying for a number of reasons, but especially because of the group’s aggressive efforts to transfer and privatize protected federal lands, which most New Mexicans oppose and would greatly harm people who live on tribal lands.”
Transcript:

“But I also wanted to be in a position to transition into a federal seat and I'm - I'm not saying I know all there is to know but I'm telling you this has given me an opportunity to understand the nuances of this district, the challenges both from a policy level on the state side of things and also from the federal level.
Um, I have great - I have great relationships in Washington and of course once Trump got into office, and we see this administration and this cabinet level group that he's appointed, it has been a huge benefit for New Mexico.
I am on the national board of directors for the American Legislative Exchange Council."

Other DUers going to Tornillo today

I’m on my way to Tornillo with two Alamogordo women friends to immigrant tent city, joining Rep Beto O’Rourke. Any ideas or advice?

DU supported my State Rep campaign in a fundamentalist, Repub county

I have trouble expressing my gratitude to DUer's because they supported my campaign in contributions and in 'cheerleader' support...especially pinboy3niner and OmahaSteve.

While I lost this race, I intend to run again. Not one Democrat has been elected in 22 years (or is it 24 now? I'm too tired to check!!) I am spearheading for other Dems to run...AND other DUers to run, please. Leave the electronics and RUN (if our nation still has elections in 2 years.) After the dust cleared, running was like a fountain of youth; I'm 65 right now. Join your local Democratic Party. Get your name on the ballot

DU's support was wildly inspiring and motivating. I love DU and missed you all so much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you a million times.
