We continued our journey along Highway 49, but decided to take a slight detour. After taking a right on to Pleasant Valley Road and driving several miles, Neek, Sar and I arrived at the South Yuba River where South Yuba River State Park is located. Nearby, we found the object of our search: Bridgeport Covered Bridge!

Downieville, CA: A Most Unusual Historical Landmark - Road Trip Day 10 Episode 26

Driving along Highway 49 was definitely one of the highlights of our road trip. I loved riding with the window down to breathe the fresh mountain air and listen to the Yuba River crashing by! One destination that Neek, Sar and I really wanted to check out along this stretch of road was Downieville, which has a very interesting history.

Committee Votes to Release Democratic Rebuttal to G.O.P. Russia Memo

WASHINGTON — The House Intelligence Committee voted on Monday to make public a classified Democratic memorandum rebutting Republican claims that the F.B.I. and the Justice Department had abused their powers to wiretap a former Trump campaign official, setting up a possible clash with President Trump.

The vote gives Mr. Trump five days to review the Democratic memo and determine whether he will try to block its release. A decision to stop it could lead to an ugly standoff between the president, his top law enforcement and intelligence advisers and Democrats on Capitol Hill.

Mr. Trump vocally supported the release of the Republicans’ memo last week, declassifying its contents on Friday over the objections of Democrats and his own F.B.I., which issued a rare public statement to warn that it had “grave concerns” about the memo’s accuracy. On Saturday, he claimed, incorrectly, on Saturday that the memo “totally vindicates” him in the continuing investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

The 10-page Democratic document is certain to be less flattering to his case. Democrats have said the memo corrects mischaracterizations by the Republicans and adds crucial context to actions by the F.B.I. and the Justice Department in obtaining a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court order to wiretap the former Trump aide, Carter Page, in October 2016.

As the House Intelligence Committee Minority Response to Release of Chairman Nunes’ Misleading Memo stated:

“Chairman Nunes’ decision, supported by House Speaker Ryan and Republican Members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, to publicly release misleading allegations against the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation is a shameful effort to discredit these institutions, undermine the Special Counsel’s ongoing investigation, and undercut congressional probes. Furthermore, their refusal to allow release of a comprehensive response memorandum prepared by Committee Democrats is a transparent effort to suppress the full truth.

“The Majority suggests that the FBI failed to alert the court as to Mr. Steele’s potential political motivations or the political motivations of those who hired him, but this is not accurate. The GOP memo also claims that a Yahoo News article was used to corroborate Steele, but this is not at all why the article was referenced. These are but a few of the serious mischaracterizations of the FISA application. There are many more set out in the Democratic response, which we will again be seeking a vote to release publicly on Monday, February 5th. Unlike Committee Republicans, however, we will ask the relevant agencies to propose any necessary redactions to protect any sources and methods not already disclosed by Chairman Nunes’ document.

Has anyone asked Trump if anyone is indicted in his administration, will they resign?

I remember when the investigation into the Plame scandal was in full throttle this was a question the press asked of Dubya. He responded that if anyone in his administration was indicted by Fitzgerald, they would resign. So when Libby was indicted, his resignation was immediate.

Has anyone asked Trump this same question? If so, anyone have a link to it?

Burning Man Art Park in Reno, Nevada! - Road Trip Day 9 Episode 24

I have never been to Burning Man and truthfully, the clothing optional aspects of it intimidate the hell out of me. The artwork and designs of the temporary structures fascinate my aesthetic imagination, therefore, it was to my delight that some of the smaller artwork from the 2016 Burning Man is displayed at Reno Playa Art Park.

WE GOT FREAKED OUT! Haunted Old Washoe Club in Virginia City, Nevada - Road Trip Day 9 Episode 23

Walking up C Street in Virginia City, Neek, Sar and I decided to explore one last saloon in town. Like the other saloons, this place has a history going back to the 19th century. It also, like some other saloons, has reports of paranormal activity. But there’s something about the Washoe Club that demands a closer look, which is exactly what we gave it!
