Quixote1818's JournalIf You Still Support Trump, I Instantly Know 7 Things About You
BycpowellPosted on May 28, 2017
While I dont always like to make sweeping assumptions about people based on a small collection of evidence, if you still support Donald Trump, there are certain things I already know about you. Here are 7 of those things (HUGE shout out to Daily Kos for putting together this amazing list!):
1. YOU WANT TO BE RULED, NOT GOVERNED:
The single trait that predicts the Trump supporter isnt related to race, income, or education. A University of Massachusetts researches found that the top predictor of whether a voter supports Trump is a tendency to lean toward authoritarianism:
Authoritarians obey. They rally to and follow strong leaders. And they respond aggressively to outsiders, especially when they feel threatened. From pledging to make America great again by building a wall on the border to promising to close mosques and ban Muslims from visiting the United States, Trump is playing directly to authoritarian inclinations.
2. YOU HAVE NO CLASS:
Donald Trump and his supporters will try to tell you that he didnt mock a disabled person, even though we all saw him do it.
Also, remember the time he mocked Senator McCain for being a POW, saying I like people who werent captured?
Remember the time he made a mockery of our military by insulting/disrespecting the parents of a fallen soldier?
Remember when Donald Trump body-shamed a beauty pageant winner?
Remember when Donald Trump was accused (not charged, yet) of statutory rape, not mention the creepy and disgusting things he said about his own daughter?
There are literally thousands of statements and actions that we could mention here. Keep defending them, please, and prove my point about your lack of class.
Here are the other 5 without text:
3. YOU ARE NOT SOMEONE I WOULD TRUST TO DO BUSINESS WITH:
4. YOURE EITHER A RACIST OR AN ENABLER OF RACISTS:
5. YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH WOMEN:
6. YOU ARENT QUITE AS CHRISTIAN AS YOU CLAIM TO BE:
7. YOU ARE ANTI-CONSTITUTION:

I now think many of the Republican Oligarchs would love the US to turn into something like Russia
I never would have seen that coming but what has happened in the past few months is pretty eye opening. Putin is frighteningly clever. That is why Russia is a much bigger threat to us than ISIS. It's really frightening and sooner or later the power the 1% is compiling is going to need to be broken up or our freedoms could evaporate rapidly. Hopefully the FBI can put some folks in jail and discourage what is starting to happen. Trump needs to be impeached to send a message regardless of it possibly hurting us in the midterms.
On Edit: France and Germany see the threat and are taking it as serious as a heart attack. They are sending Putin a message that Europe will stand up to his fucking ass alone if they need to! They are true heroes here.

Researchers Say They've Figured Out What Makes People Reject Science, And It's Not Ignorance
Snip>
In fact, the researchers found that people who reject scientific consensus on topics such as climate change, vaccine safety, and evolution are generally just as interested in science and as well-educated as the rest of us.
The issue is that when it comes to facts, people think more like lawyers than scientists, which means they 'cherry pick' the facts and studies that back up what they already believe to be true.
So if someone doesn't think humans are causing climate change, they will ignore the hundreds of studies that support that conclusion, but latch onto the one study they can find that casts doubt on this view. This is also known as cognitive bias.
"We find that people will take a flight from facts to protect all kinds of belief including their religious belief, their political beliefs, and even simple personal beliefs such as whether they are good at choosing a web browser," said one of the researchers, Troy Campbell from the University of Oregon.

Fake news / science and websites with pure BS are also a big problem.
I think the left does this too ignoring the peer review science on things like organic vs non-organic (not too much science backs up organic being much safer or better for you) and the established safety of GMO's etc. The vast majority of peer review is mostly okay with these two things.
