What is the justification for counting Miami-Dade taking so long?

When entire STATES bigger than that were counted in far less time?

Hey Krauthammer, Fox and GOP: know who has even LESS mandate than Obama?

Mitt fucking Romney! And Paul Ryan, Sheldon Adelson, the Koch Brothers, and Karl Rove.

I am in utter awe of Axelrod and Plouffe.

This, I am pretty sure, is easily the most brilliantly run campaign I've seen in my lifetime.

The strategy of this team, and the incredible incredible work done by all the workers and volunteers in implementing it, almost defies the imagination.

Just think, every ounce of that GOTV was needed in OH, FL, and VA, and was almost enough in NC.

I think this was a much harder slog than 2008 because there was no anti-Bush wave to ride, and a difficult economy, and record amounts of GOP cash.

Every battleground won but NC. It is an awesome achievement, especially under the circumstances.

For those of you who worked, called, knocked doors, you are the entire difference (aside from the candidates, heh), and were worth more than hundreds of millions of shitty SuperPAC dollars. Thank you.

Nate Silver, Sam Wang and aggregate poll analysis won big.

And Axelrod is fucking Sherman, Grant and Robert E. Lee rolled into one.

Pennsylvania Voting and ID Question: Are Poll Workers REQUIRED to ask for ID?

I know that ID is not required for this election as a result of court decisions.

I also know that even though this is true, the GOP state government decided to get as much voter suppression as they could out of the law anyway by running ads that could easily be misunderstood as saying ID was needed even after the court decision.

I'm assuming that the purpose of this was to cause some people who didn't know about the law being blocked to not show up to vote because they never were able to get the ID.

I know it's not against the law for poll workers to ask for ID today even though you don't have to show it. Apparently they are asking for ID, but are they actually REQUIRED to ask for it, and are asking everyone?

I guess what I'm getting at is, if you are voting in PA, you don't need the ID, and it's a good idea to make it clear to everyone in line with you that this is the case.

Do I understand correctly that Romney is holding rallies on Election Day?

Has anyone ever done this? I thought it was traditional to do your voting booth photo-op (forgone by Obama this year to set an example early voting) and then go chill out with your supporters and await returns.

Doesn't it seem kind of desperate?

A Good, Sincere Article Written by a Former Young Conservative:

(sorry if this has been posted already)

http://dcpierson.tumblr.com/post/35030817854/dear-young-conservative

Dear young conservative,

I hope you are reading this. My ideal reader for this piece is an actual person under thirty years old who self-identifies as conservative. I would like it very much if this letter found readers beyond my typical (and beloved) echo chamber of liberal comedians and comedy fans. If you’re reading this and you’re not a young conservative, I’ll bet you’re friends with one on Facebook and I would love it if you could pass this along to them.

First off: I in no way mean for this to be patronizing. I’m not mocking you, young conservative. I know what it is to be a young conservative. I was one.

When I was in high school, in the early part of the first George W. Bush presidency, it seemed kind of cool and punk to me to identify as conservative. I didn’t agree with their social policies, but that wasn’t the point. The point was, what if all my liberal high-school-kid friends were wrong? It was a ton of fun to think of myself as the sole voice of reason among a bunch of wrong-headed young people who hadn’t read the same blogs I had, and hadn’t been introduced to Ayn Rand by their girlfriend last summer the way I had.

Looking back on all that, on the times I argued with my History teacher in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other things, I am deeply ashamed. And this shame comes not from the fact that I now have different political beliefs, different political beliefs shared, in some form, by almost all of my colleagues and friends. I almost always relish having a minority opinion. It’s a stubborn, age-resistant part of my personality. I am still the guy who loves hating the thing everyone else likes, or liking the thing everyone else hates. I didn’t like the movie DRIVE very much. I know. Come at me. So I’d be the first person to want to have a political belief counter to the ones treasured by all my friends. I argue most frequently with people I’m actually in total agreement with. I’m just that asshole. So it’s not that I felt the need to join the herd and now that I have, I’m ashamed to have ever felt differently than I do now.

(much more at the link)

This is well written and comes across, in my opinion, as very sincere and most importantly, not patronizing or insulting in its intent. It may be useful or appeal to someone you know.

Post Your Electoral Map for Bronco Bama! Here's mine:

http://www.270towin.com

You can make and share maps at this site, instructions are on the page. I did a screencap and posted it on tinypic to get the image to show.

I would love nothing more than for CO and FL to come across also but I'm not counting on it, although I would not be surprised if Bronco Bama wins either or both. The pessimist in me still sees this as the map we'll get which is a win:
