Romney's a little more "visible" than I'd expect, considering a CPAC appearance, Fox interview etc.

Is he actually going to try and run again in 2016? I wouldn't have believed it before, but maybe he's just deluded enough to think people actually want him to be President.

Did you ever catch up with a pop culture phenomenon a year or two late?

The phenomenon known as Adele has been going on in the background of my life for what seems like well over a year. Two or three of the hugest hits from her latest album are always in some kind of rotation, pleasantly burbling at low volume over satellite radio or Pandora when I'm at work. I've heard these songs so often that I can recognize and hum the tunes even if I didn't know their names.

I took a little notice when I saw the latest James Bond movie, I've always been partial to the musical themes and songs, particularly the old Shirley Bassey stuff, and I thought the theme for "Skyfall" was particularly well done and in keeping with the classic Bond themes.

For whatever reason, last night, for the first time, I actually sat down and LISTENED to a number of her songs as Youtube videos, including the smash radio hits, and I was totally amazed at her voice and the quality of the songs. So I feel like a total dope!

George W. Bush Administration Question re: Cult of Personality

I distinctly remember reading an article about the GWB administration doing things like putting photos of him in official government reports like budgets or stuff like that, which had been unprecedented.

Unfortunately I can't think of the proper phrasing or search terms to pull up any articles about this. The right wingnutosphere has put out so many bogus articles about Obama and cult of personality that even when you are searching for Bush it's a bunch of nutso wingnut blog articles about Obama that come up.

Can anyone help me out and point me in the direction of an article or two about this?

So is Mitt Romney's historical legacy to be a trivia question?

Where you have to match him up with "47%"?

I DVR'd the whole Fox News Election Night Coverage, but the recording got screwed up somehow.

And I'll never have that recipe again.... Oh No!

Is there anywhere I can track down the extended coverage?

Luckily, I did watch mostly their coverage, as Obama Time approached, including the surreal Rove interlude and the funereal pall that descended over the place as WI, PA and MI fell. And the efforts by Krauthammer and the rest to pre-delegitimize the victory.

I was just wondering whether the extended coverage was online anywhere.

I thought all dogs liked peanut butter.

Only some of mine do.

The others think it's poison. What's the matter with THOSE dogs, are they mentally deficient in some way?

I think some SuperPAC money will be used more effectively squashing loony candidates in primaries.

I suspect that in the future, some of the big GOP money will go to crushing the Akins, Mourdocks, and in the Presidential primaries, the Bachmanns and Cains.

Hey GOP: Ask a Brown Person!

The GOP punditry looks at the exit polls and suddenly realize they have a brown/yellow problem.

But the approach is to theorize about all this inside their own white bubble to come up with the answer of what's in the minds of brown and yellow people. Thus you see people like Krauthammer literally saying that all they need to do is support immigration amnesty (making sure the border is fenced first as a bone to the crazies) and it's all fine, really problem solved! (My father is a TV repairman and has this ultimate set of tools, he can fix it, as Spicoli would say). Or the chorus of people like Jennifer Rubin saying that "we just need to educate these browns why our ideas are better and they'll come around".

What I don't see is any real capitulation. If you really realized that you screwed up and need to get votes beyond your own tribe, it requires a different attitude than this.

Why not go out and actually communicate with that 71% of Latinos and 73% of Asians who are not voting for you? Instead of being self righteous and telling them why your way is better, why not ask "why are you voting for them and not us?"

You'd have to risk hearing the blunt answer "having guys like Rush Limbaugh mocking us racially on his show and laughing about it makes us conclude you are racist assholes, makes us hate you and prevents us from hearing any part of your 'message' beyond that."

From the protection of their bubble, conservatives always have a ready talking point to spin away discussions like this, "no, YOU sir are the real racist blah blah blah" which may be great for "winning" an argument talking over someone on Fox and Friends, but doesn't help if you sincerely want real answers on how to improve on what you're doing.

Getting to savor the sassy political incorrectness of Rush Limbaugh and enjoy how much he pisses everyone off, is in everyone's face and telling the truth about those brown takers from Not Your Dad's Traditional America is a luxury you can afford when you are winning and control all the strings, but not when you are trying to sell your product to new markets to get more votes.

Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?

I think you overestimate their chances!

Still indulging the Schadenfreude News Network this morning.
