Fox News’ Stunningly Retrograde New Year’s Advice To Ladies

Is it 2015 or 1815?

Fox News started the new year off with a bang by providing the women of America with some startlingly retrograde advice. The hosts of “Fox And Friends” highlighted a new book, helpfully written by men, that provided “brutally honest” advice to women.

In published excerpts (the book is released in February) the authors provide perspective on relationships. For example, “[s]omeone has to wear the pants and someone has to wear the skirt.” Also, if a man cheats, it’s always his wife or girlfriend’s fault: “A man who cheats is looking for someone to fulfill a part of him that his lady is not, plain and simple.”

The Fox segment, first flagged by Raw Story, highlights that women should “always cater to her man’s needs” including providing foot massages and cooking meals.

4 Terrible Things That Were Supposed To Happen By 2015 Because Obama Was Reelected

It’s now 2015, nearly two years after Obama took the oath of office for the second time. A few years ago, prognosticators were very confident about what would happen to America by now because of Obama’s reelection. Let’s check in and see how their predictions turned out:
1. Gas was supposed to cost $5.45 per gallon.

In March 2012, on the floor of the United States Senate, Mike Lee (R-UT) predicted that if Obama was reelected gas would cost $5.45 per gallon by the start 2015. Lee said that gas prices would rise 5 cents for every month Obama was in office, ultimately reaching $6.60 per gallon.

Lee was not alone. Newt Gingrich, running for the GOP nomination, predicted that if Obama was reelected he would push gas to “$10 a gallon.” Gingrich said he would reduce gas prices dramatically by reversing Obama’s energy policies. Gingrich flanked himself with campaign signs promising $2.50 gas if he was elected.

2. Unemployment was supposed to be stuck at over 8%

3. The stock market was supposed to crash

4. The entire U.S. economy was supposed to collapse

Friend: Husband Killed Wife on Life Support at Hospital as an Act of Love

A husband and wife were killed in a New Hampshire hospital Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide shooting that their friend told NECN was an "act of love," not a crime.

Mark and Katherine Lavoie both died after shots were fired just after 6 a.m. at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, friends and family confirmed to NECN. Authorities have not revealed the pair's identities.

The New Hampshire attorney general's office said the investigation is still in its early stages, but the two deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide. Autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of the deaths.

On Facebook, Mark Lavoie stated his anguished motives for wanting to take his wife's life, writing in part, "now because of my selfishness in dialing 911, she is experiencing the only thing she feared more than her illness, life-support on a respirator."

Woman Marked Church With "666" Graffiti, Attacked Cop With Crucifix: Police

A woman vandalized a Massachusetts church with "666" markings and tried to attack a police officer with a metal crucifix that had been donated after a baby Jesus was stolen from a nearby Nativity scene and replaced with a pig's head, authorities said.

Fifty-four-year-old Amarellis Cermeno of Haverhill was arrested on various charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, malicious destruction of property and destruction of a place of worship.

Police say they responded to La Iglesia Biblica Bautista just before 3 p.m. Tuesday for a report of vandalism, where they found "666" written in large numerals with a black marker in 15 different places on the outside of the church. A witness was able to take a photo of the suspect, who was described as a woman wheeling around a suitcase with an American flag, according to police.

Cermeno was located on Main Street at Winter Street by police as they searched the area. Police say Cermeno was carrying a large metal crucifix and tried to hit a police officer with it multiple times, but was eventually arrested.
