I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday steak and garlic mashed potatoes...
Actually, what bothered me most about the Correspondents Event was the attitudes of that despicable Ed Henry and that equally repulsive Brett Baier. The former could not begin to hid his disgust for the President, both in body language and tone. When this putz was with CNN he continuously attempted to belittle the President at press conferences and interviews, and sneered every time he would report from the White House. His nervousness when delivering his lines last evening, as evidenced by his constant licking of his lips and weird mouth movements, showed that he had a lot of false bravado when he was writing those words, but started to have a little Freeper Remorse, because the man and his wife to whom he was directing his hostility were sitting right there. Another "Tough Guy" in his own mind, he to his own surprise found it difficult to look at the President through the entire affair.
Baier, whose scorn for any ideology Left of Ted Cruz is legendary, mumbled something about "no matter who is President..." And I found that to be a pretty scummy remark, which is what you'd expect from the likes of him.
So what we had was FOX "News" managing this dinner...perhaps it was executed in this fashion due to the ridiculously overwrought argument that the media consists of then"Liberal Elite". One look around that room would tell anyone with an IQ in positive numbers that that just doesn't exist. In a way Sarah Palin was correct, but not for the reasons she and her followers might proffer: if last night proved anything to the relatively few folks who were watching, it was that politicians come and go, but the "Lamestream" Media Moguls are Forever. They are the true Royalty of America, for they can select who is crowned King. If you doubt that, ask Jon Huntsman why, with the best credentials, the best mind, the best oratory, the best education, and the best resumé, among Conservatives of course, why he was deliberately shoved to the "Back of the Bus", time and again. He was written off before he began - and if you think that he had some fundamental problem, can you sit there and say that Rick Perry, once the laughable front runner, as they termed him, had fewer problems? Or Michele Bachman? No, contrary to Bush 43, they are the deciders, not the candidate, and I for believe, that the President isn't either. The Moguls are the Lord High Executioners and wield their swords with ease and with all the conscience of your garden variety sociopath.
